When
one first hears the term Second Life Military Community, or SLMC, they may
think of an in world Second Life group that revolves around real life military
veterans. This is where the name might be misleading for some. Although there
are real life military veterans within the SLMC, the community itself has
nothing to do with real military affairs. In actuality, it's far more civilian
and gamer friendly.

Music in Second Life© is a must and what better way than to un-wind down a busy day or week by either going to a club to listen to a DJ or by going to a live event to listen to a performer sing and perform. However, have you ever wanted to know more about the artist behind the mic to find out how they became a performer and how you can begin performing in Second life, if this is a dream of yours?

Everything has a beginning, but no two journeys are the same. Here you will meet five people who discovered different paths after finding Second Life©.
There are many different ideas on how the world was created. While it might be good for one of these theories to be proven as a fact, it’s one less thing for people to disagree on. If we all agreed on and did everything the exact same way as everybody else, wouldn’t that get boring? While some experiences people have can cause them to get hurt, it’s the lessons that they learn from them and those can help not only themselves, but others as well. I would like to introduce you to five people who all came into Second Life in similar ways, but the paths that they walked once there are all different.

I ZOOMED IN AS SHE approached the steps of the bridge, taking
voyeuristic pleasure in seeing her pixelated cleavage fill the screen. What was
it about those electronic dots that had the power to turn people on? There was
nothing real in them, but that never stopped millions of people every day, male
and female, from deriving sexual gratification by interacting with those points
of light. It must all be down to our perception of reality.
Dsouza, Clyde

The first paragraph of chapter one from the book is something
we’ve all asked ourselves as residents of Second Life. What is the
pleasure we derive from either socializing or wandering aimlessly in exploring
a sim that’s new to us?
I became aware of Mr. DeSouza while following commentary

INTERNET LAWS: What is the UK Instragram Act? Can Laws like this Affect Other Social Media Images?- Orchids Zenovka Reporting…

Pandora’s Box of sorts
was opened by the United Kingdom in the form of the “Enterprise and
Regulatory Reform Act” receiving Royal Assent for consideration as a law. Andrew
Orlowski, Executive Editor of the “Register”, a British technology news and
opinion website, dubbed it as the “Instagram Act“, and entitled it with the
phrase, “all your pics belong to everyone now”.
The clause raising
hackles is the “Orphan Works and Extended Collective Licensing Clause 77”, which
basically allows granting of licenses for orphaned works allowing any act with them that would otherwise be restricted by
copyright and require the consent of the missing owner. The jury is out on
the definition of orphaned work which the act describes as – content
who’s “owner of copyright in it has not been
found after a diligent search made in accordance with the regulations.” The publisher
can obtain a non–exclusive license in respect of a work if after a
"diligent search" they can demonstrate to an independent body that
the owner cannot be traced. A fee would then be payable which would be used to
reimburse the owner if they later made a claim. But as they say, the devil is
in the details. Let’s review the article of the now famous “Instagram Act” and
its implications on social media including second life and a rethink whether
this is a Shakespearean “Much Ado About
Nothing” or is there true merit to the vociferous opposition.
A look at the Act

Often in Second Life© when people enter the virtual world, they meet people, connect with them in a relationship of some sort and want to express their emotions and feelings towards their significant other in some way. Being a visual media, this would involve avies being able to virtually engage in sexual behavior with each other. For their own personal reasons, some people do not wish to enter into a relationship although they seek to act out their sexual preferences in a relatively safe environment where the risks involved are much lower than in the real world. Sex in Second Life is viewed by most of us as the ultimate standard of safe sex.

The Fashion Industry in
Second Life is on a constant high. If it wasn’t for designers dressing us up,
we’d either be left to our own devices of making our own clothes (which can
prove disastrous), or walking around with all our business half hanging out like
a bunch of cave people. The fact is clothing helps define our styles and
personalities. What you wear can tell a lot about you. For example, if you walk
around Second Life in scantily clad attire, one might assume you were a
streetwalker making lindens up and down that pole. If you are dressed in
business attire, one may think you’re a big ballah', high rollin' in the
Lindens. Meet fashion somewhere in the
middle and you create a style just your own. It can be an ensemble created by a
mixture of designers or you found that one who really knows what you like.
Whatever the case may be when it comes to fashion, work it because you own it
and remember there is always room for something new.
Speaking of New, Romance
Couture is a new store on the Second Life scene with high fashion designed by
Eleseren Brianna. You may or may not have heard of her, it all depends if you
have been to Inworldz. *Gasp* yes, I mentioned another virtual world but I am
no traitor in the least. I’m celebrating the fact that such great talent and
eye for design has decided to come back and bring her collection with her to
Second Life. I had the pleasure of interviewing Eles and learning more about
her and her collection. Be sure to welcome her back to Second Life by stopping
by her store and even picking up an item or two. If you are anything like me
and into shiny new things, you will leave with a handful of bags and a smile.

In a world where
all the content is created by its residents, seeing the reflection of our minds

Although it is virtually impossible
to find shadows and reflections in this 3D reality where mirrors are purely
decorative and shadows are no more than modeled prims, Second life is a giant
mirror that reflects a borderless world of imagination, creativity, emotion and
above all, that reflects an abundance of different expressions of cultural

Going Furry in Second Life – Stareyes Galaxy Reporting

Among human avatars in
Second Life ©, there roam creatures that have a varying degree of features that
refer to other, usually mammalian species.
These range from some having “neko”
ears and tails to those decked to full “furry” animal avatars. Whereas these
creatures express a great amount of creativity in their appearance and
demeanor, they are quite often shunned in clubs and entertainment venues. What
is so offensive and deprecating in furries that makes sim owners ban them? What
is it that makes furries tick? Stareyes Galaxy donned her cow fursona and went
out to find out more about the furry lifestyle.
Despite having had my
cow avatar for several years, I had not really been privy to the lifestyle of
furries, and often was wondering why on earth one would want to go traipsing
about the meadows of SL as a plump but admittedly very sexy bovine character. I
contacted the “Furry Dating” group, with over 700 members, to get the first
leads. After having been solicited to “yiff” a few times, I was eventually directed
to the USF sim (United Space Force Nation) where I found Kiara and Charlie to
set me right. USF is one of the largest furry communities in Second Life, and
they host an annual AGRA (Anti-Gravity Racing Association) race as well as
other competitions.

I stepped into Second Life ignorant of everything going on. A man jumped
into my box offering to help me. He led me around the freebie place
taking me where they had avatar’s shapes and skins. He proceeded to tell
me how to take my clothes off. To someone that had never been on a
computer game let alone one as complicated as SL it was slow going. Then
he started trying to talk me out of my password… Okay, I am not a genius,
but it is basic common sense to not give out your password. He started
Caps Locking in my pm and in open calling me an idiot and demanding my
password. ‘Would you like some help?’ appeared. This big, scary
looking guy was standing there to the side of the side of the Texan.
‘Yes, yes I would.’ And so I met Snake.

Dizzy Banjo has been creating art and sound installations in SL for many years, and 5 years ago he created the ‘Message in a Bottle’ installation using the pre-recorded voices of SL residents.
This year, he needs the help of the SL community again to make a similar project.
You can record your message anonymously and it is very simple to do!

The Vampire
and Lycan role play platform Bloodlines
© has generated a thirst as well as rage among residents since its
inception in 2008. The allure to become a vampire clan member and to advance in
the ranks of the game system has led to thirst of many vampires to feed on
unsuspecting newbies, and consequently, generated rage in well-informed
residents against their sometimes unscrupulous hunting practices. Among other
deprecating things, Bloodlines has also been called an outright Ponzi scheme,
which has added to the resentment toward Bloodlines among avatars at large. What
is the reality today in the vampire circles? Stareyes Galaxy had the privilege
to visit a castle and interview a Clan Queen.

Almost everyone who started out in second Life©, did so to play a game. However, with real people behind the screen, sometimes you are bound to fall in love.
So many of us, (myself included) Come to the virtual world because we are seeking something in our lives. Weather it is due to a physical disability and the desire to have a job, or if it´s more for social interaction, we find ourselves logging on daily to fulfill our wildest dreams. The best part about such a fantastic platform, is that unlike other social networking media, we have the ability to physically spend time doing activities that are just like those in the real world. Not only can we spend such time, It is time spend with real people from around the globe. When we find others with common interests, even though it may not originally be intended, we find ourselves in deep friendships, and sometimes even love. There is an age old question that remains in both our real and virtual lives. What turns the opposite sex on, and how can you prepare yourself for love?
I got to speak with several residents about their thoughts and feelings about virtual love, and what turns them on about the other gender, and also what turns them off. Lets take a look, and find out how you can be successful in the battle of the sexes!

Second Life romances can
mirror real life romances in many ways. Couples can meet, fall in love, and do
many of the same activities virtually as they can in real life.
Of course not all
romances end positively and just like in real life, Second Life romances can
cause heartache and stress. In this article I will explore how to bounce back
from bad Second Life relationships and share the stories of two Second Life
avatars who recently overcame the struggles of bad relationships of their own.
I sat down to speak
first with “Tyler” who had a botched Second Life romance last year. Tyler
stated that he and his former Second Life girlfriend, “Emily,” had dated in
Second Life for two years. Both he and Emily considered themselves to be more
than just a Second Life romance. As Tyler explained, “Once you share so many
details about yourself with a person, it is hard not to take the romance into
real life”. Emily and Tyler spent most of their days together in Second
Life either clubbing or exploring. They had even ventured over to other virtual
worlds. By year number two of the relationship, both had started making plans
to take the relationship further into real life and Emily had even booked a
flight to visit Tyler.

Dancing with Michael Jackson proved to be a fan favorite as club-goers joined the History group dancers |
On May 19th and the 20th, Strupples Davidov watched as
the state she lives in was torn apart by tornadoes. One of the May 19 storms
passed within sight of her home, but it was the next day's destruction that
shook her to the core.
She is safe and still has a home and family. But she watched in horror as the destruction in nearby Moore, Oklahoma, was revealed on television. Homes, businesses and schools were leveled by nature's wrath.
"As a teacher, mother, and just as a human being, it has ripped my heart out," she said "The more I saw, the more it affected me until I couldn't watch any more and had to shut the TV off. I logged into Second Life to try and get those images out of my head, but they wouldn't go."
Watching the television made her feel helpless. But as co-owner of The Inlet, Strupples began to think maybe there was something she could do, after all. "The only way I could think of was holding a music marathon in Second Life. We can make a difference. We can donate to the Red Cross to help them in their aid to Tornado victims."

more affordable virtual worlds, Second Life still has many educational

Many dream about becoming a
model. But do people really know what this industry is all about. Come with me
as we explore this profession.
Everybody wants a job that is financially and emotionally fulfilling; whether it be in Second Life or Real Life. Some professions require more of one’s mental resources, in exchange for a bigger paycheck. One vocation that while emotionally rewarding can also be mentally and financially draining. The career that I’m referring to is modeling.
