SPOTLIGHT ON KEVINMTHOMAS Carpool: A LIVE ACOUSTIC, ELECTRIC AND ORCHESTRAL ROCK MUSICIAN- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

Music is universal. It can be created in any languages in a variety of genres. It is an art form made up of sounds, pitches and melodies. Musicians combine their unique sounds with lyrics to express themselves and share their natural talent with others. Music has the power to set moods, bring back nostalgic memories and even plays important roles in many of our special occasions. From weddings, birthday parties and other gatherings, to singing along in your car to songs, spring cleaning at home or going to concerts with friends.  For music lovers around the world, there is something for everyone and it seems to be everywhere.
In Second Life, music has evolved into a global phenomenon because it allows musicians from all over the world to perform in front of a global community. They are able to interact with their fans in a more intimate way and receive instant feedback, do requests and get tips for their performances.
KevinMThomas Carpool is a real musician originally from Pennsylvania but now resides in Washington DC.  He brings his unique voice and guitar skills into Second Life©, performing original music with a combination of covers from his favorite artists. With his years of experience in the virtual world, Kevin has rocked out at countless venues across the grid and continues to build his fan base, since 2007.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day- Interview with a Leprechaun- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

St Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17th, known as an Irish holiday celebrated for the past 1,000 years. It occurs during the Christian holiday of Lent.  Lenten observers are prohibited from eating meat during this time and the Irish who participate in the traditions of St. Patty’s Day activities join in with dancing, drinking and feasting on traditional meals, including Irish bacon and cabbage.  The tradition in America is very similar in the drinking aspect of this day.  Everything is covered in green, from the Leprechaun hats,  beads and shamrock garland draped across everything, to the infamous green beer and pub crawls. You don’t even have to be Irish to partake in the festivities or the major hangover that follows.
Leprechauns seem to be the popular mascot for this holiday. Legend has it these feisty little folklore icons are mischievous and enjoy being practical jokers. Like other fairy creatures, they can be traced back to the Tuatha De’ Danann of Irish mythology.  Apparently they collect gold coins for making shoes and store them in a pot, hence the “pot of gold” associated with them at the end of a rainbow. It is said that if a Leprechaun is captured by a human, they must grant three wishes in order to be set free.  I wonder if this is true in Second Life too….

VMS News: The Bare Bones of It -- Fun, Music & People. (Interview with Bones Writer, creator and owner of TRAX)- Klarissa Huntress Reporting...

Nestled in the middle of a pretty sim is a unique and comprehensive source of live music promotion. This is TRAX, Live Music Resource Center.
TRAX owner and creator, Bones Writer, is a humble man who downplays his remarkable achievements both in Second Life and real life.  His idea for TRAX was to create and promote, “a level playing field where everyone has opportunity and there is no elitism, everybody getting an equal chance to promote and market themselves.”

Bones is a professional musician with thirty years experience in the music industry, as a session player for artists like Jimmy Crespo of Aerosmith, and Billy Idol, or in the thick of a current New York Rock Opera version of Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities.

Little Mary’s: More Than Pixels & Secondlife- Definate Balfour Reporting…

Often, when I take an assignment I begin with some sort of idea of what I’m going to cover, but in this case my assignment originally began in a pursuit for something  business related, but during a conversation the sentence got uttered to me, ’You really should check into Little Mary’s, they got a unique story.’ With a nod I did just that and I contacted Ron Farslider, one of the owners of Little Mary’s. With a teleport and a conversation I was left with a smile and thought on how much Second Life© and first life cross over. Here’s that conversation with Mr. Farslider, the story of Little Mary’s, and why you should take yourself over for a visit.

"FaiRodis St. Patrick's Day Expo 2013 March 7th-March 18th

"FaiRodis St. Patrick's Day Expo 2013" was opened by designers of FaiRodis Jewelry and Hair Brand.

As designers said they had great interest in working with green color that is the color of LIFE and St. Patrick's Day celebrations. As so as all designers are friends in RL so they work together and all items (Jewelry, gowns, dresses, stiletto, hairstyles and hair decoration) got perfectly holistic and harmonic style.

Main idea of FaiRodis St. Patrick's Day Expo 2013 is to transfer to people the feeling of coming Spring and raising nature.

M&M Marketing: Offering Businesses Owner A Helping Hand- Definate Balfour Reporting…

M&M Marketing help business owners get more exposure, this is extremely helpful when you, the business owner, are not sure which avenue to take or even names of professionals  to contact for help. In a  virtual world where networking is key and so little are willing to help outside of their immediate friends, marketing can be hard to do unless you are  a driven person and not willing to take no for an answer.  It’s nice to know that there is a company willing to work hand and hand with you, so I wanted to share M&M Marketing with SLE readers.

I found myself at a beautiful home and headquarters of M&M Marketing. Mark Ussy greeted me warmly and after finding a nice spot at his meeting table we began our conversation about him, his company, and what it can do for those interested in his services.

Interview with Mark Ussy, M&M Marketing

Somewhere in the metaverse ....

The metaverse looms large and is an unknown quantity for many, but for those in the know it is a magical place, a place with a sense of community, purpose and hope.

One very special place in the metaverse is Second Life.  This vibrant virtual world radiates creative energy and is the epitome of the concept of Ubuntu.  Ubuntu is not an easy concept to define but to put it simply it is a culture whereby everything that is done is done for the benefit of the community and by the community.
Right now in Second Life, the Relay for Life Fashion Fair is taking place.  Talk about something for the community by the community …. The time and effort that has gone into putting this spectacular event together has been phenomenal, and it has all been done in the name of charity.

How to Keep Your SL Relationship Smoking Hot....

You have met “the one” …. They are the best thing since sliced bread, every encounter is better than the last, your heart skips a beat when you see his/her name appear online, you can’t wait to spend time with them.  These are the amazing days when you can’t get enough of one another.  Three months down the track you are very much in love with your partner but how do you keep the romance that brought you together in the first place alive and smoking hot?

Music from the Emerald Isle

What is it about the Emerald Isle that has us all so transfixed?  Is it that accent, which is to die for don’t you think?  Ireland is blessed with beautiful landscapes, an enchanted history, inspired people (authors, bands, humanitarians), and a richness of spirituality that touches the whole world.

Music plays are large part in Ireland’s culture and has done for time immemorial. It’s not just about Irish traditional music but it’s all genres of music.  Irish songs tell a story through song, making them even more appealing to listeners.

Enter one Dainial. Curiosity brought him to Second Life and even though he had a difficult time adjusting to it, especially at the beginning, he remembered being baffled by “rooms” full of silent people, and by all the things that newbies find daunting.  Luckily he was helped by people who became friends and after a year and a half here, Dainial says he has made some very close and good friends, and is thrilled that his creative side is finding full expression in SL.

Daylight Savings aka Summer Time Reminder- Sunday March 10th @2 am (United States)

Taken at the Clock Museum in Second Life

What is Daylight Savings?
It is a shift in time created to benefit sports, retail and other activities that could use extra sunlight time after work hours. What it doesn't benefit is sleep and eat patterns, meetings, billing, travel and record keeping. Try to resist eating to late in the day to prevent disrupting your sleep. Another piece of advice is to adjust a clock in your home an hour ahead on Friday Night to continue eating and sleeping on your current schedule this weekend so that by Monday morning, your body will be adjusted for the work week!

Retrieved from day-finder.com, Daylight Savings Time, or DST, begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.  In March, clocks are moved forward one hour from 2am standard time to 3am DST, and in November, clocks are moved back one hour from 2am DST to 1am standard time.  The phrase "spring forward, fall back" is a helpful reminder of these time changes.

Spring is approaching. Are You Ready for a New Season? Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

With the Winter freeze now thawing out, it is time to think about starting anew. What can you do to make changes in your Second Life that can also benefit your first life?  Just like Spring cleaning of our homes, wardrobes and unnecessary clutter in our minds. A new season should bring positive changes. During Winter months, statistics show that people are more likely to become depressed and turn inward.  Self pity and sorrow soon follow. Letting some light shine through your windows and taking in fresh air is helpful but you can’t expect a new start without meeting yourself half way.

Treat yourself to something New
Buy a new outfit, get a new haircut and raise your head up high. Feel good about yourself , otherwise find a way to improve on the things you feel you are lacking in. Change is needed. Spring is around the corner and there are things you can do to ring in the new season in the right direction.

SL Business: How’d ya get so successful?- Definate Balfour Reporting...

Recently I  sat down with an innovator in Second Life; she teaches those who want to provide for others. It’s an awesome thing to do to provide such a service to residents in the virtual world. Evelyn Enterprise is a company formed from one single question, ‘How'd your business get so successful?’ This is a question inquiring minds want to know. I spoke to the owner, Evelyn Johnson, and ask some questions and learned about what she has to offer and even what got her own business started.

Spring Shopping Blues? Shop Vintage!- Definate Balfour Reporting...

When Spring time comes, we trade our coats and mittens for something to show off that inch more of skin. Why not do it with a vintage flare? Nothing screams more fun, love, and spring time to me then floral prints, shorts, and dresses.

I was honored to meet Nova Monroe during one of my shopping trips to get ready for spring. Her style and shop is the epitome of spring.

I don’t consider myself a fashionista, I don’t  even consider myself a guru of fashion, but I do consider myself, my tastes, and likes the same as the girl next door. With that in mind, that doesn't mean I don’t want some style to my jeans, dresses, and other apparel I rock. Whoever said average had to mean plain and boring? Besides, last I knew I was a big girl dressing myself.

Her name alone, Nova Monroe, sets my mind to Marilyn Monroe, 50’s and 60’s style, vintage, and laid-back comfortable. Meeting her face to face, I was completely blown away by her style. The things she sells has a flare of unique and significance in their own right. I could tell this was a woman of my own heart, every piece she molded and crafted was personal and a reflection of herself. This chick is on to something, so I had to sit down with her for an SLE interview. I wanted to know about her and  wanted to share her with the world as much as I could. It interested me to know more about how she handles her business.

Random Video of the Day: Need a Good Laugh? Do it at the Expense of these Hilarious Goats.

Last week my teenaged daughter said I had to see this and she played it for me at family dinner. Needless to say I nearly choked on my drink.
Since than I've heard a variety of hit songs with these hilarious screams included and just yesterday while driving in my car, the local radio station actually played a song with Goat collaborations. I had to pull over to crack up laughing.

If this doesn't give you a mere chuckle or have you gasping for air, then you are numb to cheap entertainment. Just sayin'

Get Ready For Baseball Season At Jersey City!

Stacey At The Bat A lot of people make an active effort to draw a solid line between real life and Second Life, especially in some of the sims I hang around in. That said, a lot of what goes on in SL is driven by RL. I live in Massachusetts RL, we just had 40 inches of snow fall in a week, and I trend toward warmer activities the moment I delve into this fantasy world that we all share. Fo' instance... the moment I open the SL Sports desk back up, we're talking baseball.

Spotlight Feature: A New Jazz Club is in Town: Gringos - Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Jazz music originated in the early 1910’s in New Orleans and is a mix of African and European music traditions. The instruments used to set the tone of this popular genre are wind instruments like saxophones, trombones and trumpets mixed with piano tunes, bass guitars and even the banjo. There are other derivatives to Jazz which include Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll, Reggae and some good ol’ fashioned Funk.
In Second Life you can find clubs of all genres, but Jazz seems to be one of the most popular on the grid. I recently interviewed Gringo Miles, a resident that rezzed on the scene in 2007 and describes himself as an iron fist in a silk glove. He admits to never winning a popularity contest but can be one of the more honorable men you may ever meet. He’s straight to the point and handles his own business. Meet Gringo Miles
