Daylight Savings aka Summer Time Reminder- Sunday March 10th @2 am (United States)

Taken at the Clock Museum in Second Life

What is Daylight Savings?
It is a shift in time created to benefit sports, retail and other activities that could use extra sunlight time after work hours. What it doesn't benefit is sleep and eat patterns, meetings, billing, travel and record keeping. Try to resist eating to late in the day to prevent disrupting your sleep. Another piece of advice is to adjust a clock in your home an hour ahead on Friday Night to continue eating and sleeping on your current schedule this weekend so that by Monday morning, your body will be adjusted for the work week!

Retrieved from day-finder.com, Daylight Savings Time, or DST, begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.  In March, clocks are moved forward one hour from 2am standard time to 3am DST, and in November, clocks are moved back one hour from 2am DST to 1am standard time.  The phrase "spring forward, fall back" is a helpful reminder of these time changes.

Spring is approaching. Are You Ready for a New Season? Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

With the Winter freeze now thawing out, it is time to think about starting anew. What can you do to make changes in your Second Life that can also benefit your first life?  Just like Spring cleaning of our homes, wardrobes and unnecessary clutter in our minds. A new season should bring positive changes. During Winter months, statistics show that people are more likely to become depressed and turn inward.  Self pity and sorrow soon follow. Letting some light shine through your windows and taking in fresh air is helpful but you can’t expect a new start without meeting yourself half way.

Treat yourself to something New
Buy a new outfit, get a new haircut and raise your head up high. Feel good about yourself , otherwise find a way to improve on the things you feel you are lacking in. Change is needed. Spring is around the corner and there are things you can do to ring in the new season in the right direction.

SL Business: How’d ya get so successful?- Definate Balfour Reporting...

Recently I  sat down with an innovator in Second Life; she teaches those who want to provide for others. It’s an awesome thing to do to provide such a service to residents in the virtual world. Evelyn Enterprise is a company formed from one single question, ‘How'd your business get so successful?’ This is a question inquiring minds want to know. I spoke to the owner, Evelyn Johnson, and ask some questions and learned about what she has to offer and even what got her own business started.

Spring Shopping Blues? Shop Vintage!- Definate Balfour Reporting...

When Spring time comes, we trade our coats and mittens for something to show off that inch more of skin. Why not do it with a vintage flare? Nothing screams more fun, love, and spring time to me then floral prints, shorts, and dresses.

I was honored to meet Nova Monroe during one of my shopping trips to get ready for spring. Her style and shop is the epitome of spring.

I don’t consider myself a fashionista, I don’t  even consider myself a guru of fashion, but I do consider myself, my tastes, and likes the same as the girl next door. With that in mind, that doesn't mean I don’t want some style to my jeans, dresses, and other apparel I rock. Whoever said average had to mean plain and boring? Besides, last I knew I was a big girl dressing myself.

Her name alone, Nova Monroe, sets my mind to Marilyn Monroe, 50’s and 60’s style, vintage, and laid-back comfortable. Meeting her face to face, I was completely blown away by her style. The things she sells has a flare of unique and significance in their own right. I could tell this was a woman of my own heart, every piece she molded and crafted was personal and a reflection of herself. This chick is on to something, so I had to sit down with her for an SLE interview. I wanted to know about her and  wanted to share her with the world as much as I could. It interested me to know more about how she handles her business.

Random Video of the Day: Need a Good Laugh? Do it at the Expense of these Hilarious Goats.

Last week my teenaged daughter said I had to see this and she played it for me at family dinner. Needless to say I nearly choked on my drink.
Since than I've heard a variety of hit songs with these hilarious screams included and just yesterday while driving in my car, the local radio station actually played a song with Goat collaborations. I had to pull over to crack up laughing.

If this doesn't give you a mere chuckle or have you gasping for air, then you are numb to cheap entertainment. Just sayin'

Special thanks to L.G, you are the best when it comes to showing me crazy Youtube videos. Next time wait til after dinner....

Get Ready For Baseball Season At Jersey City!

Stacey At The Bat A lot of people make an active effort to draw a solid line between real life and Second Life, especially in some of the sims I hang around in. That said, a lot of what goes on in SL is driven by RL. I live in Massachusetts RL, we just had 40 inches of snow fall in a week, and I trend toward warmer activities the moment I delve into this fantasy world that we all share. Fo' instance... the moment I open the SL Sports desk back up, we're talking baseball.

It's A Mad Mad World Hunt - March 1st - 31st
This is a grid-wide hunt with over 20 creators from all corners of SL. The hunt is a twisted and dark Easter themed/Spring time event, don't expect fluffy bunnies [perhaps in a non-traditional more murderous way]. From Blackeri Mainstore - March 1st - 31st
Within the store bringing all this to you, freebies can be found in the MM Board, Prizes for Picks, and Lucky Chairs. Also sales on older products and older products that have never been released before. This will be clothing, shapes, gestures, and a lot more.

This is a cart sales event that has several companies involved, located on the Blackeri grounds, you can go cart to cart and find incredible deals and introductions to some pretty awesome stores! Prices will vary. We have some awesome creators, Hollyweird, Little Bones, and Celtic Corsets just to name a few of the folks you'll be able to find booths for down here!
Also during this event is a small raffle held to the side for 1000l in cash and a giftcard worth 1000L from Blackeri! Entry fee will be 100L.

Spotlight Feature: A New Jazz Club is in Town: Gringos - Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Jazz music originated in the early 1910’s in New Orleans and is a mix of African and European music traditions. The instruments used to set the tone of this popular genre are wind instruments like saxophones, trombones and trumpets mixed with piano tunes, bass guitars and even the banjo. There are other derivatives to Jazz which include Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll, Reggae and some good ol’ fashioned Funk.
In Second Life you can find clubs of all genres, but Jazz seems to be one of the most popular on the grid. I recently interviewed Gringo Miles, a resident that rezzed on the scene in 2007 and describes himself as an iron fist in a silk glove. He admits to never winning a popularity contest but can be one of the more honorable men you may ever meet. He’s straight to the point and handles his own business. Meet Gringo Miles

Leaving Comments on The SL Enquirer

From The Desk of Lanai Jarrico

With all the comments good and bad that are submitted to this website. I review them all and publish the ones I see fit based on my vision of The SL Enquirer.

The nasty and absurd comments never get published because I feel it's my responsibility as CEO to keep readers protected from those that feel the need to be negative. I want our readers in a positive mood and keep them from many of the attention seekers and drama queens that like to write comments to undermine, look down upon or otherwise try to discourage people from doing what they love. The SL Enquirer caters to those that come to Second Life to do activities, socialize with others and release their creative energy. For many it has helped them realize hidden talents and enriched their both real life and their second life. For those that abuse it, it causes drama and necessary emotional strain that we can all do without.

Those of you that have positive things to say, have different opinions to share or  have ways to help others are always welcomed and encouraged to leave comments, but always remember to think about what you say, give valid reasons, be kind to one another and respect those that choose to spend their time differently than you. Together we can all create a place of harmony despite our differences.

Thank you

Lanai Jarrico

Dating in Second Life© - Definate Balfour Reporting…

I’ve done it, you’ve most likely done it, and honestly I really don’t know of too many who haven’t done it. What is ‘it’ you might be wondering?  Dating is ‘it’!
You roam the grid and you see it happening all the time, partnerships, engagements, and even people that have found love beyond the pixel, but all these things began the same way, dating. I wanted to know about others’ experiences, what they look for, and any advice that they may be able to provide. What other way to do this than asking avatars?

I began my journey to answer these questions by simply asking them. I came up with basic questions for friends, family, and even strangers to make things more even. I wanted unbiased answers, things that may not have been told to me by friends and family.
What I asked were the following:

Extending an Emerald Hand Beyond the Virtual World- Davvek Suun Ki Reporting...

We see movies about superheroes and wish the world had these costumed champions.  We look for good amongst all the challenges in real life.  Now, in a time when uncertainty seems to run so rampant; it’s good to know people are still at their best.  Just like that, a call for help is answered.  The popular sim Second Life continues to be a popular medium for virtual interaction.  Once again, The Green Lantern Core of Second Life (SL) has set their sights on another charity project.  This time their specific focus is for Community Outreach Programs.
“The Green Lantern Core (GLC) was started in 2004 as a simple Green Lantern fan group and has since evolved into a multi-national public service organization. They are a tightly-knit group of like-minded residents who volunteer time assisting others and helping to make the Second Life experience a positive one for all.”

DiversionZDance "Circus Diabolique" at Danse Macabre - LEA26 Performance Review- The SL Enquirer and the full house gives it two thumbs up!- Lanai jarrico Reporting…

On February 22nd. I received an event notification that read,

"Ladies and gentlemen allow me to direct your attention to the center stage where you will bear witness to terrifying sights that will haunt you to the day you die....behold the Circus Diabolique and let the nightmare begin”.

That was enough to make me dig through my messy inventory and pull out my best clown costume and get ready for the show.

As I continued to read, “Be drawn into the world of the dark circus in this second dance piece by artist Fae varriale and her dance company DiversionzDance, which was created as a vehicle for marrying her love of contemporary dance with a love of creating immersive artwork, Choreography, environment design and costume concept by Fae Varriale”.

By that time, my curiosity was peaked, I went, watched and came away with this to say…

Music is Magic - an interview with Mantis Oh

It is such a different and rare topic. Isn't it? Let's get into role-playing (RP for short).
Role-play refers to acting out in a particular character, using the words and customs of that character, become a mimic. Interesting eh? Keep in mind that actions which are OOC (Out of character) MUST BE noted in some way, or not used in this mode of communication this the basic rule.

Cool tips for Dating an Avatar found on Discovery News- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

2/14/13

I'm a shameless news addict and not afraid to admit it. When I'm not covering virtual world news, publishing for others or roaming the grid looking for something to write about, I'm checking out news on different real world outlets often so that I can stay in the know about the world around me.  From that disgruntle ex cop stand off in a cabin, the germ infested broke down Carnival Cruise ship finally docking and unloading traumatized passenger, the Olympic Runner charged in murdering his model girlfriend, a meteor explosion over Russia, , fashion and what not to wear, the Pope leaving his position, celebrity gossip about Kim and Kanye receiving special treatment at JFK airport and causing a security breech and the weird and the wacky, to finding news about Second Life on major news outlets. I must say, it is a lot to absorb!

Here is an interesting article I found on Discovery News about Dating Avatars and some tips that can help those that are involved in dating in Second Life.

Take Your Date to the Movies! About Virtual Cinema- CeciliaRosalie Resident Reporting...

This article shouldn't start in any other way than with this question… What movies are playing?

In real life, going to the Cinema may be one of the most popular activities for couples on dates or just going out with a group of friends, but is there any place for it in our Virtual World?

I had never seen a Cinema in Second Life and I think only a few of my friends have heard of it, even though there are lots of movie theaters available. So, I went to check out some of them. Some gave out free snacks such as popcorn, burritos and soft drinks while others were small and minimal. It seems that most of the movies are in high definition and all you need to watch the movie is QuickTime. (It's a free program you can download) I recommend setting  your environment to midnight for best results.

NOW IT'S SHOW TIME!!!!
