So then, what do the following people all have in common?

•     Elvis Presley
•     Neil Young
•     Bob Marley
•     Johnny Cash

Well, the answer is obvious, right?

If you guessed they were all born in the month of January, you would have been correct!!!!

Oh yeah…there is also that thing about all of them have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with around 374 other trend-setters in the world of Rock and Roll music.

In SL it is often said that Art Imitates Life, i.e.) SL imitates RL. and now where else on the Grid will you hear a better representation of that particular artistic genre’ than at ROCK STAR.  Considered by many to be the absolute “funnest” (is that a word?) place on the grid, you have GOT to stop by and see what Foxxy Scorpio and her crew are cooking up for your entertainment.

I lucked out the other day and happened upon ROCK STARs Owner and her US General Manager, while she was tweaking some of the decor on her build, and they graciously agreed to speak with me about just what it is that makes ROCK STAR different from all the other club builds out there.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB):   So tell me, Foxxy. Where did you get the idea for Rock Star? Is there some history here?

Foxxy Scorpio (FS):   Rock Star came about because my husband and I felt that too many clubs in SL were all about the build and making money, nothing was about the “fun” anymore.

JB:   There are many fun Clubs in SL. What is the Rock Star difference?

FS:   Rock Star is based on 3 things, The People, The Music and The Fun. Without one of these things the other wouldn’t exist

Outlaw Infernum (outlaw64021) OI:  It’s the people. Everybody at Rock Star from the Owners to the VIPs and  everyone in between. We are not cliquish whatsoever. We are family at Rock Star. While other venues may throw around the word "family" We walk the walk and prove it everyday.

JB:      Who do you hope to attract to ROCK STAR and what special group of people might find ROCK STAR  especially appealing?

FS:   We hope everyone finds Rock Star appealing, we welcome everyone, we are an all-forms friendly work place and club. The only thing we ask is that you fit inside the building.

OI:  Who do we hope to attract? That's a very simple answer.....Everyone. Whether you are you’re an average John or Jane or you are a dragon or you are a dinky or furry, wolf, kitsume, or you are a member of the LGBTQ community or BDSM community, It doesn't matter. Now as we are a club that does not censor the music that our DJs play, child avis are not allowed.

JB:    I see a lovely Memorial on the property.  Can you tell me a little about that?

JS:  In front of the school there is a memorial dedicated to our Mentor, friend, and founder of the S&I DJ school, Kieran Broadmoor, he taught the first generation of DJs in SL, then he taught my husband and me how to teach and here we are. When Kieran passed away, he bequeathed me the school and streams, and I promised him I wouldn't let the school die, the clients and students of the school are amazing and wonderful. They helped me through that very dark time for me

JB:      I understand there is special garden area where staff can “let their hair down”, so to speak, and play music of a “different genre”?

FS:   Yes! The Rock Star Ruins. On Sundays we like to dress up and make Sundays special, so we go hang out at our “Sunday Seductive Groove”.  It’s music that’s on the risqué side of romance.

JB:   Tell us about the ROCK STAR Sign, reminiscent of the HOLLYWOOD Sign in California - complete with benches where people can sit and observe a gorgeous sunset.

FS:   The Rock Star sign was built by Nic, it’s an homage to old Hollywood really, the club has been built with The Whiskey  and The Rainbow Room as inspiration

JB:   Could you share some of the other interesting things that visitors and guests can do at ROCK STAR?

FS:   We have lots of photo ops around the place, we also have an ethereal wedding venue.

The Ruins are the most romantic part of Rock Star, we have had a few marriage proposals happen there.

FS:  I also run Foxx Studio Photography, I specialize in head and shoulder portraits, its situated next to Rock Star, the DJ School hub is there as well, where we teach and very soon our streams will be available via a hud on your screen, so people won’t have to physically go somewhere to top up their rentals, the huds will be available for free from this location.

Right next door is my husband’s sound studio, Legato Sound Design, he makes intros, outros and drops for the DJ community, he also creates adverts for the various business s around SL. This has gone in to RL with him being asked to master several RL band’s music.

OI:   There are other places here as well. 

·         New Moon design products  based on the lunar cycle and it can be anything.

·         Totemic Couture has Clothing Designs for the  Discerning Biker or maybe  Biker  with class and much more.

·         The Notable Art Gallery Is free to the public to view and a great place display your art as well.

JB:      What has been your biggest challenge in building ROCK STAR?

FS:   The main challenge has been finding staff who understand what Rock Star is about, People, Music and Fun. We have a saying, "if it’s not fun don't do it" on the wall inside the club. Of course, everyone wants to make a few Ls and, if we do, we are happy, but if we don't, then as long as we had fun, we are still happy. A lot of clubs say they are a family, here we walk that walk and genuinely mean it. No problem is too big or small we all pitch in to help.

JB:   Do you have any plans for future development?

FS:   Yes we do, but they're staying secret for the moment, If I told you now, you wouldn't have an article later in the year :)

JB:   Where can someone learn about the events you host?

FS:   We advertise on the Community Calendar, all over the grid and now with the SLE and a couple of other publications

JB:   Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

FS:   If you are looking for somewhere you can call your regular hang out, then Rock Star is the place for you, rather like that sitcom Cheers, everyone knows your name here at Rock Star

Georgia Classic Rock Cafe Where we play the best in classic rock and so much more...and now in a new location!

You will find much more than just a venue here,  there is the actual club, and keep in mind I am from Georgia which will explain so much about the venue.  There is an open deck to dance or sit right where you land, so if you are lagging you can just settle there and still see the singers and while you listen to the music, a view of water and the beautiful sunset makes you feel like the world has slipped away and you can relax, and focus on making new friends or being with the one you love. 

It started as a dream. I wanted a club; something I couldn't have in real life. Just a place where I could play my music. Being born and raised in Georgia...surely SL would bask in my Southern Rock, and if it didn't...just keep it classic...what other kind of music is there.

 It started out in a very small building, with a different name. It was actually a coffee shop on the first floor and a dance area on the second. Turn on the radio....Rock FM. Now it is  a much bigger venue on a much bigger parcel of land with a much bigger variety of music. But before and after shows...it's still Rock FM. You can't teach this old dogs new tricks....lol.  However Amber brings in many singers from different genres,  so if you are in the mood for some country,  mellow sweet tones  or just a nice mix of music,  keep an eye out for who is singing and come enjoy yourself.

Georgia Classic Rock Cafe is now located on Main Street...the sim is owned and operated by Ohana Land Estates and we are so excited to have recently moved there. The venue was actually custom made by Kathleen and Coco Spitfire who are members of the Paul Nowles Band.

Now let me introduce myself. My name is Rick Scott (rickscott1955), and along with my wife Amber Scott (amber.lefavre). We are the owners of Georgia Classic Rock Cafe. I am the Georgia part of this rocking duo....born and raised there..and I guess I'm also the Classic Rock part. So what does that make my lovely wife Amber. That's easy...she's the boss and a Florida girl. Amber does all the booking for the club. Without her it would just be me and not a multitude of live singers (we book 30 to 50 acts a month) and I DJ at the club on occasion and I will give you the best in classic rock and so much more.

Since our opening in the Fall of 2016, Amber has booked some of the best talent on sl....some of our regulars include Gabriel da Silva, Rayna Gorham, Erik Kottzen, Savannah Rain, NeoMaximus Brandenburg, Toxic Darkmatter, Paul Nowles, Jack Slade, DirtyDee Sweetwater, David Hauptman and  Rocker....with so many others like Max Kleene and Quartz and many more to come. We are constantly looking to bring you the best talent that we can find. Spotlight on Wild Angels Rock Club & Lounge

Rock Clubs can be found all over the grid but there is one in particular that caught our attention. Located at Sage Estates, Wild Angels Rock Club & Lounge is an active venue with regulars who often come together for great conversation and a good time. This club is owned and operated by CJ Torva and stays busy day and night featuring some of the coolest DJs on the grid that engage with the crowd and have a great sense of humor. You can expect to hear soft, classical and hard rock, top hits and even pop music.   Music and dance balls aren’t the only features this rock club has though. Visitors can participate in Truthball, Trivia, lucky chairs, random money givers and Greedy.  There are no strict rules and it is Bloodlines friendly.  We caught up with CJ Torvo to learn more about Wild Angels and what makes it so successful.

Lanai: When was Wild Angels Rock Club & Lounge established?

CJ: Wild Angels Rock Club & Lounge (Originally just Wild Angels), was created back in April of 2014 with strong encouragement from a few special people; Bry, Derekb, Decode Ashdene, Fishicus, Seabluetears and Lil Duckie with myself.

Lanai: What inspired you to create Wild Angels and how would you describe the atmosphere?

CJ: We only wanted a place that we could hang out together. Wild Angels was never planned to be the size it is now. I hope if you ask anyone about the atmosphere, they would say exactly that; a place all our friends can hang out together. We get wild, we have fun. To be a Wild Angel is a SL lifestyle. It's letting go of real life and coming to a place where it's ok to be different. But it's all our differences that make us alike.

Lanai:  Wild AngelsRock Club & Lounge has an impressive active atmosphere, what is your secret to success?

CJ: Lanai, you are not the first to ask what our secret is. It's just something you have to experience.

Lanai: Fair enough. What type of activities can be found at Wild Angels?

CJ: Wild Angels is and always has been a Bloodline friendly club. We encourage all Clans, Hordes, and Guilds here. Any of them may request their family crest or logo to be put on our walls. We also have Bloodline vendors and looking to add a refill station.  We encourage all Bloodline activities including recruiting with a couple basic rules; No random attacks, no spamming, No hunting from other families.

    We have also always been supportive of new players. We offer Lucky Chairs, Trivia, Random Money Give-a-Way and Raffles. We are also known to give a shout out to pass any transferrable items our VIPs can to new players to help them get started.

    Wild Angels also has a theater where anyone with a Wild Angels group tag on can access and enjoy a variety of movies including other television stations.

    Other activities? Wow, I mean we have weekly regular events like Wet Wednesdays where we party all day on the beach, BangFest Tuesday Night with DJ Satori and Bry where we play extreme heavy Head-banging Music. Under Wear Thursdays for the sole purpose of having a reason to party in our undies.

    But I guess what I really want to express is our VIPs ARE the Activity. We truly do have the best VIPs in Sl and always fun to be around. So when you ask what activities we have.....The Club itself is an Activity.

Lanai: I can agree with that.Every successful venue has key players that help make it what it is. Who makes up your team of managers, DJs, Hosts and dancers?

CJ: So much I want to reply. The simple answer you are looking for is: My Sr. Manager and best friend bryonyjasmine. The two floor managers that do an amazing job are Tipona and Selectiveheart. Satorijanelle is our very talented and passionate Staff Manager. We also have a team of 3 Event Postings Managers; Selectiveheart posts on Bloodlines and we also have Naposhh and Lilieah that do all our SL Events Postings.

    I do not want this question getting past without stressing the greatness in stage staffing Wild Angels has. Committed DJs and Hosts that also step up to cover a slot so our VIPs have that ready for them. We go deep in commitment and passion and dedication.

Lanai: Are you currently hiring? If so, what is the application process?

CJ: Wild Angels is always hiring.  We are always looking for a deeper selection of both DJs and Hosts to keep us rockin' and having fun.

    Our hiring process is a 2-step process.

    First, applicants get to meet Bry. Bry sorts out the potential drama makers and if they have what it takes to be a Wild Angel team member in attitude and spirit.

    Assuming they get past Bry, they get forwarded on to Satori where potential members show her what they got and can bring to the table in skill, potential, and originality that still falls in line of our standards.

    We take applicants extremely serious. It is our Djs and Hosts that are the faces of Wild Angels. What they do on stage and how they treat VIPs is a crucial aspect of growth and retention. We don't expect perfection, just professionalism. Perfection will follow when you understand what it means to be a Wild Angel.
