Over the past 18 years I have toured many sims in Second Life and it never ceases to amaze me. Every landscape and detail is like stepping into an artist’s masterpiece and being a part of their unique artwork. I had the pleasure of such a place that took me away on an adventure into someone else's imagination brought to life. Nocturne Estates is one of those places where you feel instantly at peace surrounded by nature and beauty. I had the pleasure of meeting Fiore di Luna and learning about this new venue. I have a feeling it will be a place where others will feel the energy and experience the awe I felt when I was there.

Interview with Fiore di Luna

SLE: Hi Fiore, it’s nice to meet you.  Can you share a little about yourself?

Fiore di Luna: In my "first life" I am a travel nurse. I spend around 48 weeks a year away from home moving from city to city, state to state. With WiFi, my gaming laptop, and Second Life I can take a little bit of home with me on assignment. My passion in Second Life is building, interior design, music and dancing, and spending time with close friends.

SLE: Being a nurse is a selfless profession. Your passion is reflected in the beautiful atmosphere you created in Second Life.What inspired you to create Nocturne Estates? Can you share with our readers what it has to offer guests?

Fiore di Luna: I have traveled throughout the U.S. both small towns and metropolitan cities. I felt most inspired by the forested landscapes, the waterfalls and hot springs, and gazing into the deep blue waters of Crater Lake. I wanted to be able to share this experience with others. Our mission is to provide residents with a haven of refined living spaces surrounded by natural beauty. There are waterfalls scattered throughout the islands, hidden caves, and nature paths to explore. At Nocturne Estates we look to cultivate a community of like-minded members who will enjoy gathering at one of our venues for an evening of live music or sailing out from the marina on an aquatic adventure.

SLE: Your vision is outstanding. While touring the various locations on the sim, I noticed a lot of detail in the beautiful landscapes I explored. Did you design this sim yourself?

Fiore di Luna: I had envisioned a community of sims based on the Pacific Northwest (U.S.) The idea of living in and surrounded by natural beauty is what inspired me to create Nocturne Estates. I was fortunate to have met Poppy Lemongrass and Vitani Frakenstein, the two incredibly talented women behind Catacomb. They were able to see my vision, collaborate, and work alongside me during the design process. I would highly recommend Catacomb to anyone looking for a sim designer. If you look hard enough you'll find their signature tombstone buried somewhere on one of the sims. I would also like to recognize someone that has been a confidant, a sounding board, and a partner in the intricate design and creation of Nocturne Estates, Celeste Pinkney. Sometimes it feels as though we inhabit a shared hive mind. Thoughts and ideas flow effortlessly between us, and we finish each other's design ideas with beautiful synchronicity. Together, we have transformed mere ideas into works of art.

SLE: I will have to look for that!  Do you currently have any rentals available? If so, can you share some information with our readers?

TELLING IN THE DWELLING: INSPIRING CREATIVITY IN SL AND BEYOND – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

People come to the Virtual World of Second Life for many and varied reasons.  Some come for companionship; to make friends, or to meet that special someone.  Others come to explore, dance, or to chill out while they listen to live or recorded music in their genre of choice.

Ikon Room is here for the sheer exhilaration of experiencing and embracing fully the creative process, and he has introduced, through his business model, a way that untold numbers of people can do likewise.   

I managed to catch up to Ikon Room one afternoon while he was working on his inworld office spaces, and he graciously agreed to tell me (and our 70,000 viewers) how dreams can become reality in SecondLife.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) JB:    Soooo Ikon.  Thank you for agreeing to chat with me.  I know how terribly busy you are, so let's just start at the beginning….What is Ikon Room all about?

Ikon Room (IR): Ikon Room is a small real estate business in second life that has as its main focus not only on renting out and selling land but also on stimulating people to be creative in decorating the dwellings we sell inworld via our monthly contest. And with that, give exposure to their artwork to inspire others that are yet uncomfortable with their decorating or building skills. In short, my personal focus is to contribute to a world where people are feeling inspired by what others create and then feel less hesitant to create things themselves. In this case, due to my Ikon Room project I-R. World, a dwelling.

JB: Interesting Name. “Ikonroom” How did you come up with that, and does it have any special significance?

IR:   Ikon Room is the name "Moor Noki" reversed. Moor Noki is my artist name in real life. On this artist's name, I am a singer/songwriter/producer. I reversed it as it now sounds like icon. I want us all to be icons! In this case in decorating rooms, given my business in SL. For promotional reasons you'll find Moor Noki's music played on all the lands we rent or sell and you will notice some billboards that state that. Clicking the boards will give you a notecard with all the stores you can buy my music or listen to it for free.  Obviously, after the land is sold or rented out the owner can change the stream.  

JB: From RL New Age musician to SL Real Estate Mogul.  You seem like quite the Renaissance Man

IR:   I would not call myself a New Age Musician in RL. The music I create comes in many different styles which are in line with my personality. Making music, writing lyrics, and producing them was therapy to me and in that light it has become more of a diary,  which is authentic and personal to the bone, so to say. It's me and at the same time, it isn't me any longer. I'm never my last second but it's good to reflect on the past every now and then. Some check their diary for that, and I check my music for that.  I don't shy away from the roller coasters life has put me on, nor do I shy away from addressing issues that we all have to deal with one way or another. Yet often the majority of us are not comfortable enough to speak about it due to shame, guilt, status, culture, and so forth.

JB:Tell me about your properties.  How big are your lots, and where are they located?

IR:   Currently, since I've only just started, I rent out 1024 sqm plots as they fit the rooms I have created for the monthly contest I hold at i-r.world. That being said, renters and buyers can obviously rent or buy larger plots, I will simply fuse those lands. At the moment they are located on the mainland and come in general moderate maturity ratings. Adult land for rent will follow later on. The plots come with 350 prims and cost L$425 per week. You can also buy the piece of land for L$3000 per 1024 sqm. If you buy more than one parcel at the same time and they are attached (can be joined), prices can be negotiated. 

JB: So then, what are you all about?  What is the message you are trying to convey here? And what does “Telling in the Dwelling” mean?

IR:   It's "A Telling in the Dwelling".  When I visit a person's house I step into their story. I step into the past that they live in now. The way they decorate their home is who they have become and currently are. it's their telling in their dwelling. Compare it with how we dress. When we meet someone, we automatically scan them on how they appear, and based on that, we already have a quick idea if we understand this person (read “can connect”) well enough to continue a positive relationship. We are all inspired by others on how we dress – either like it or not. If we like it, we want to create the same but with our own personal touch to it. It's precisely what 'A Telling In The Dwelling" is about. To be inspired, to channel that into your own creativity and make your own telling in the dwelling. 

JB: I understand you offer rooms for 1L. What are those for, and how might people get those?

IR:   The rooms I sell are obviously on my marketplace store for anyone to buy. That being said. They are nothing more than 4 prim boxes. No windows and no doors only floor, wall, and ceiling texture. The main purpose is for people to buy and decorate them. After they've done so they can participate in i-r.world's monthly contest. We will pick 3 winners each month and each of them will get L$500 as a reward. On top of that, the winners will have visibility on our website and inworld with their names attached to it for 3 months. All participants will get the money they paid for their room on MP refunded. 

JB: I see you are promoting something called “I-R.World - The Dwelling Contest”. Tell me more about that, please?

JB: Selling rooms for 1L?  How can you hope to make much money that way?

IR:     I'm not interested in making money per se. If anything, I'm interested in breaking even. Though I'm absolutely not allergic to financial tips, support, or donations. lol

JB: If people rent or buy one of your lots, are they required to build a 1L room on it, or are they free to add their own houses? 

IR:     When people rent from us they are allowed to do with it and on it whatever they like. Mainland has an SL covenant (which is usually none when fully rented by i-r.world. We do have our own covenant for those that rent with us. 

JB: Where do you hope to go with this project?  Do you have plans for expansion? Do you envision entire regions of 1L rooms?

IR:     Obviously I look forward to expanding my business and there are already a few new ideas in the making that are not yet ready for publicity. One step at a time is my motto. All at its own time and place. 

In previous endeavors, I was eager and wanted too much at once which made the project fail. I've learned my lesson from that.

Spotlight on Tabby’s - Re-Grand opening of a new adult club and complex with many hidden surprises- SLE reporting…

 

Unlike the many sex clubs in SL that are reminiscent of the red light district’s gritty lower east side. Tabby’s is a beautifully designed atmosphere. Established in June of 2019, Tabby’s club is an adult luxury playground for voyeurs with a variety of amenities to tempt that naughty side. Owner Tabitha Mercury has worked hard to create a place where adults can let go of their inhibitions and freely explore those kinks without fear of judgment in a safe environment. Not only is there a club with events hosted on Sundays & Wednesdays, an elegant indoor pool and spa room,  game room hangout, and sex rooms there are even rental properties for couples and apartments for singles. SLE met up with Tabitha for a tour to learn more about all the hidden amenities and was pleasantly surprised by how well-designed it was. 

Interview with Tabitha Mercury

SLE: Hi Tabitha, thank you for meeting up with us for a tour of Tabby’s. Before we get started can you tell us a little bit about you and how you found your way into Second Life?

Tabitha: I actually found my way to SecondLife many years ago. I don't recall what drew me to begin with, but when I left was when Flexi hair just came out and was all the rage. I came back to SecondLife after 13 years because there were changes in my real life and I felt alone. I remembered how SecondLife made me feel before, the fun I had building in it (prim building, mind you), and thought, "Hey! I can build clubs and sell them on SL for some L$ when I go back!". Then I logged into the new world of mesh.

SLE: Well we are glad you did come back and adapted to all the changes Second Life has had since you first took a break. So about your club, Tabby’s is a place for voyeurs, those who like to watch. It can be intimidating to some and exciting for others. As we all know Sex can be a taboo topic for a lot of people, especially for those who are not comfortable in their own skin or who have been conditioned to believe sex is a dirty thing unless it is confined to an act within marriage. Since it is 2022, it's time to brush those old traditional beliefs out the way and be free, especially in the virtual world. What made you get into the adult hospitality industry in Second Life?

Tabitha: Honestly, because I had been here before, I knew how it worked. I knew what industry a new person could get into right away to make some L$ to maintain the life I wanted to in SecondLife. Unfortunately, for many new people to SL, you have to have been around for 30 days before you can get hired somewhere. I got lucky and was hired my 2nd day as a dancer for an adult club. About a month later, the owner closed the club down and my new friend and current business partner, Veronica Bunny, surprised me with my own club within a day. Tabby's was born in May of 2019 and opened its doors on June first.

SLE:  That is great having good friends in the game to help you succeed. We all need that. So, we know you allow escorting and voyeurism at Tabby’s. There are a lot of Sex clubs on the grid that allows it also but rarely have any staff around to ensure minors and child avies do not use these places for “illegal” purposes. How do you safeguard against possible TOS infractions?

Tabitha: Nothing is 100% effective, but we take what measures we can to dissuade those under the age from entering. The land settings are set so that no one reporting themselves under the age of 18 can enter. And our staff is vigilant against allowing any avatars appearing under legal age from entering. There is ambiguity with some avatars, but we do try to encourage those with "borderline" avatars to update their appearance to fit the adult scene. We also check profiles on entering to ensure the avatar is not being portrayed as an underage individual. Everything else is a violation by the avi's user of SecondLife and Linden Labs TOS.

SLE: I am sure that a lot of people including SLE commend you on you taking the seriousness of protecting minors, thank you. At the SL Enquirer, we don’t like to just do fluff pieces, so we ask a lot of questions that make you stop and think and sometimes can be uncomfortable. The main one I believe our readers would like to know is. Why another Adult club? There are so many in Second Life already, everywhere you turn there is a kink club, BDSM, open and AFK sex. What would make Tabby’s stand out from them? Why will people want to go to your establishment?

Tabitha: A lot of clubs out there are after L$, plain and simple. Our staff wants to challenge the status quo of most clubs by being personable. We want to get to know our guests and provide them with a place they feel they can go to whether they're after the "fluff" or not. The entertainment earns 90% of their tips and there's no pressure to do anything they don't feel comfortable with. We offer several venues for events and have rental areas available to those who could use a place to call home. While it's still being finished, we are adding profiles for each member of our staff at https://tabbys.club/ so you can get to know us a bit before coming to the club.

SLE: I am sure after this Spotlight you will have many visitors coming to see all that Tabby’s has to offer. Starting with Tabby’s Club, What type of events do you host, and how often? Do you need to be a great member to access private events? 

Tabitha: We currently schedule weekly events. Our main club is open every Sunday from 12-6 PM SLT for the return of Tabby's 'School Girl Sundays', a tradition of ours that is back by popular demand. Every Wednesday from 12-6 PM SLT we have our 'Half-Price Hump Days' where our guests can enjoy our premium services for half the L$. We will also hold public and private special events. Private access can be gained by being a tenant of Rivendell or Keyhole Towers, or simply by becoming a regular to Tabby's and getting to know us! Upcoming events include our 'Grand Re-Opening White Party' on Friday, April 8th, Secretaries & Suits in May (est.), Pride Day in June, plus many more to come!

SLE: I can go many places with your marketing of “Half-Price Hump Days” but I will digress :) There is also a sex room in the back of the club, can you tell us a little about that? And what kind of privacy if any does that allow?

Tabitha: I like to refer to that as "Las Vegas" because, what happens in the sex room, stays in the sex room. The sex room is actually on its own parcel and private. You cannot see what is going on in there by camming, you must be in the room physically. If you are into voyeurism, then we have a place for you, and that is called "Keyhole Towers".

SLE: That is a great concept to adapt with, the what happens there stays there. The pool room and spa at Tabby’s is a gorgeous little spot to hang out and explore some fantasies. What kind of events, if any, happen there?

Tabitha: Eventually, we would love for this to be open daily and have a staff there who aren't expected to do anything other than serving drinks and helping guests in a non-"fluff" way. For now, it will be open to the general public to explore and use. It may also be closed for private events for our tenants or staff. Keep an eye on our VIP Group notices for updates.

While there are position-specific requirements, generally we need people who will be attentive to our guests and put their best foot forward to represent not only Tabby's Club, but themselves as well! Tabitha: Rivendell is...I can't begin to describe the pride I feel in Rivendell's beauty. Veronica Bunny did an amazing job turning my dream into a reality in SecondLife. There are 3 homes for rent. There's the small shack we call "Hob's Crick" which goes for L$200/week for 100 prims (which actually has already been rented), and 2 "Hobbit homes". One is called "Hob Hill", and the other is called "Hob Knob". Don't let the outside fool you, though. These homes are quite roomy inside! Keyhole Towers is a basic, fully furnished rental complex. Voyeurism is encouraged and even implemented through a desktop computer system included with each unit, as well as hidden lobby peepholes. Their design is not for families, but rather for singles and open-minded individuals and couples.

SLE: Sounds like you have everything in place that is so great. Thank you for the tour of this lovely adult resort. Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
