Exploring the cultivated gardens of Second Life.- Xerie Savantes Reporting

Flowers are such pretty things. They can range from the tiniest to some of the most towering things that we see when we go out into nature. We have taken these little lovies of nature and have added them into our lives in various ways as we have evolved. For us, flowers have just as many meanings as there are flowers. A flower can symbolize love, life, death. Some can symbolize many things at once. For some symbology doesn’t matter, for some it does. The thing that we can all agree on though in the end is that we all love looking at flowers in one way or another. There is just something about flowers that we always enjoy and so I’m going to take you on a journey with me as I explore some of the gardens that we have in our wonderful second world.

The first stop we have isn’t your traditional garden but more of a cultivated forest, Garden of Dreams. It is a wonderful little forest that is filled with wildlife that skitters around while you explore. Albeit not large it has a variety of places that you can hang out by your lonesome or with a friend if you wish. The wooden benches and tables give it all a very lovely rustic feel that very easily induces relaxation. As you explore this cultivated forest makes sure that you find the little spots so you can enjoy some nice views as well.

Our second destination is Angel Manor and Garden. When I came to this garden I was surprised by the sight that I saw. The manor is gigantic but gives you a nice sense of the type of garden you are in. As you look around you’ll see that you are indeed in a manor estate. It made me feel as if I had been planted into an estate that you see in the movies, even down to the gardens. They are very well planned and everything is in its proper place. As I walked around enjoying the sights of the estate gardens it was evident that the creator had a very specific plan for what they wanted and did it very well. It’s truly like walking through an actual estate garden, even complete with a ginormous swimming pool.

Next stop on the train!! For this stop, we will be visiting another estate but my journey ended at the Greenhouse. It is a small garden but beautiful on its own but it is inside the Greenhouse where the real beauty is. Once you enter the building you are transported to what feels like an old era greenhouse. The flowers inside are simple but stunning. The arrangement of the interior makes it a very nice place to come and relax and to hide away and to smell some flowers or even hide and work while surrounding yourself with a gorgeous setting.

For this next stop, we are driving right into the center of Bay City and making a stop at the Arboretum. It’s a small building but inside it hides some awesome plants. No journey of exploring gardens is complete until you visit a garden that can kill you. Inside the Bay City Arboretum, you will find plants such as those. They host a nice variety of exotic plants that range from ones that will just straight out eat you to plants that fae even turns into weapons and we all know how...fickle the fae can be, so watch out!

Now for our last stop, you might need some scuba gear. As for me I just threw on my tentacles and grabbed my cephalopod companion and just dived right on into the Lost Garden of Thera. This garden I fell in love with the second I saw it. This underwater garden earned its palace on my trip for its sheer beauty alone. As you walk or swim through this garden that was lost to time you will find yourself walking along paths of beautiful coral and other numerous underwater fauna. If you don’t have your own companion like I did, don't worry because there are plenty of fish in this sea to keep you company as you explore and fall in love with its vibrant colors. Just keep an eye out for stray tentacles or don’t. We don’t judge here.

With a discerning eye to detail, Avalira wants his customers to experience the beauty intrinsic in his landscaping talent, and has opened a sim that showcases his talent for all SL community members to see.  This is an especially unique thing, because while many landscapers can conveniently show their clientele pictures of their work, Avalira brings his work directly to his customers, and encourages all to use his land as a place for spiritual growth and meditation.

Touring SL’s Breathtaking Locations- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

At the Hollywood Airport awaiting my pilot

Second Life is a place of enchantment and wonder if you take the time to explore. The grid is full of creativity, some of which makes me stop in awe at the beauty that surrounds me. Let’s take a tour of some of the breathtaking views and replicated monuments I have come across while exploring.

Tempura Island

Japan- Tempura Island

This has got to be one of my favorite places when it comes to scenic landscapes. It has stood the test of time in Second Life due to its creativity and relaxing atmosphere with great traffic. Built in 2004, this magnificent location also has a golden corridor leading to the grand ballroom. Perfect for romantic dates.
If you haven't been to Tempura Island, it is a must see.

Romantic Gardens and Art gallery

Romantic Gardens and Art Gallery

Owned by The Wandering Group, this location is absolutely gorgeous. Upon landing you are whisked away by the calming sounds as your eyes wander around a beautifully design landscape. From an abundance of  vibrant foliage and a stunning waterfall feeding a shimmering lake, It is the perfect location for a romantic date, exploring, photography or just meditating. Don’t forget to check out the art on display in the gallery.

Lady Liberty

The Statue of Liberty

This Statue is a national monument and a symbol of Freedom and Liberty.  She was a gift given to the United States from France; officially unveiled in a dedication ceremony by President Grover Cleveland in 1886. It is nice to see real world monuments replicated in Second Life. Created by Liberty Tesla, It gives sl residents from all over the world an opportunity to take a virtual tour of something real. If you have never been to the real Statue of Liberty in New York, take some time to visit it in Second life.

on the Nile River
Ancient Egypt/Amarna

I have always been fascinated by ancient history and artifacts found all over the world. They give us a window to peek into and discover interesting things about our past. In Second Life you can teleport to another time and place, like when the Pyramids were being constructed. Explore this ancient Egyptian village along the Nile and imagine what it must have been like.

Macchu Picchu

Macchu Picchu 3D- The Legendary Inca Village
Machu Picchu has always been one of my favorite ancient sites to read about or watch on documentaries. What interests me the most is how on earth was this village constructed at such a high altitude with such precision. it’s absolutely amazing what our ancient ancestors were capable of.  To see a replica in Second life really got me excited. It truly is a site to marvel at.

Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is a great symbol of Love. It is a mausoleum built in 1648 from ivory-white marble  located in the Indian City of Agra. It is the final resting place for Emperor Shah Jahan’s favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal.  Be sure to put this place in your SL travel Itinerary.

Visit The Jungle Jointe Today!

The Jungle has had many, many, jungle avatar animals visit since it opened.  The role playing seems to come very naturally for our jungle friends.  We have decided to create a group for all jungle avatars.

We find running through "The Jungle" and chasing our visitors to be very rewarding.  Playing with the children and watching them giggle warms an animal avatar's heart.  "The Jungle" is very dense with many hidden pathways and places to explore.

You can not possibly see "The Jungle" in one visit.  There are  many things to do for both humans and animals. Taking one of our boats through  miles of jungle rivers lets you see how beautiful and magical this sim is for its visitors.

Guides are kept on hand to answer questions and point the way to the many sights to be found at "The Jungle"  "The Jungle Jointe" hosts top quality entertainers on Sunday  evenings starting at 6pm SLT.

The incredible Clarice Karu followed by the heart stopping Trav McCullough pack the "Jungle Joint Club" on Sundays!  There is so much to do at "The Jungle" we could not possibly list it all.  Take the Time to COME TO THE JUNGLE I promise you will not be disappointed!!!

Simple Pleasures: Sailing in Second Life – Mackenzie Abbot Reporting

The term “sailing” is a bit of a misnomer, given that it encompasses everything to do with boats, regardless of whether they have sails or not.

It's a little difficult to think about sailing as a whole, without thinking of millionaires in luxury yachts or retired folks in their narrow-boats.  But then again, there's the freedom of the high seas and the ability to speak like a pirate without getting taken away by men in white coats.  I have had a keen interest in sailing since a friend of mine invited me onto her friend’s boat.  We pointed the boat in the right direction and just kept going.  As soon as she let me have a go at being skipper, I was hooked.  I bought my boat the next day and never looked back.  So which boat should you buy?  Where do you moor the thing once you've bought it? How much does it cost a month?  I decided to find out.

Where Do I Start?

If your sailing knowledge equates to knowing who Popeye is, then you're not alone.  Nobody is born an expert at anything; we all need pointing in the right direction and, thankfully, there are yacht and boat clubs all over Second Life.  If you just want a boat you can jump into and get going with, there are freebie boats in the Marketplace and at Yacht clubs.  One such club is the Trade Winds Yacht Club (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dex/139/48/25).

They have a few freebie boats for beginners as well as free clothes (including the absolutely necessary Captain's Hat).  However, if you want something a bit more flash than a 2 seater wooden dinghy, then you're going to need some lindens sailor!  However, depending on what you want, and where you look, you may not have to part with that much to a decent little craft.

What Boat Would Suit Me Best?

The Apple of my Eye: New York City SL- sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting...

The  world is known for its diverse cultures and magnificent cities. Some people might not get the opportunity to travel and this is where virtual programs become useful.
Second Life allows users to create and explore replicas of locations found on Earth. While SL has thousands of sims to highlight, there is one that is a staple of Second Life.

New York City SL owned by Joi Price, on November 1th, 2011. After the sim had been debuted to hundreds over the course of the day, Ms. Price decided to develop the sim further “We created a community where living, working and playing effortlessly merge together.” New York City SL is divided into several “districts” or sections, just like the island of Manhattan in the state of NY, U.S.A. is in the offline realm.
