BALLET PIXELLE PRESENTS "THE NUT" 14th Anniversary Special Matinees December 20 and 27th

Ballet Pixelle® will present its special traditional "The Nut" ballet throughout December.  This is the 14TH YEAR anniversary for Ballet Pixelle to present "The Nut", which premiered in 2007!   It is presented in the gobal virtual reality of Second Life (secondlife.com).  No social distancing required!

Ballet Pixelle performs its version of the Nutcracker, using Artistic Director Inarra Saarinen's own animations and choreography, and utilizing some of the particular attributes of virual reality.  "The Nut" is Ballet Pixelle's essence of The Nutcracker so you can see just the wonderful, and our truly original, dances.

Does Clara become the Princess to her Nutcracker as he becomes the Prince of her dreams?  We see mysterious dances in the white castle.  Arabian dancers fly in on magic carpets.  A Russian cossack stamps out a dance.  Russian dolls roll and play.  Chinese empresses and emperors move on delicate feet, and Spanish senoritas and senoras throw themselves flamboyantly.  A field of flowers waltz together.  And even snowflakes dance!

Performances are Wednesdays at 5:00 pm and Sundays at 5:00 pm SLT throughout December in Ballet Pixelle's new Grand Theatre.  Special matinees are at 1:00 pm on Sundays, December 20 and 27.  Join us for a truly different Nutcracker -- beyond Zoom!

Join us for an evening of classic, and yet new, holiday delights and join our after-party to dance on the luxurious set!

Ballet Pixelle® is the first performing ballet company in the virtual global community Second Life®.  Says the Company's founder, Inarra Saarinen, “As artistic director of the Company since its inception, I have enormous pride in Ballet Pixelle.  Our goal is to investigate and explore the interaction and intersection of physical and virtual dance and blended realities.  We perform in the virtual reality of Second Life as well as in the physical reality of First Life (Australia, England, Germany, Japan, USA for example).  We are excited to celebrate the future of dance.  We are dancing into the digital future!”

Members of Ballet Pixelle come together from all over the world, including Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.  Animations are created by Inarra Saarinen and put into dance phrases.  There are no artificial synchronizing devices and the dancers truly perform dancing with each other and the music.  Each performance is truly live and unique, and takes advantage of the characteristics of Second Life to extend the art of the ballet in new directions.

L P Ballet Academy- 6 years running child avie ballet company- raises money for charity- Angel Reporting

Guy Wardell is a man who truly believes in making the world a better place. He is the owner of LP Ballet Academy. They have been open for almost 9 to 10 years now and still thriving. Many people all over the world have come to dance with them both boys and girls. . He takes time to get to know all of his kids. “Once a ballerina always a ballerina” is the moto they live by and they really carry it out. As of the last several years Guy and the students sponsor dance shows that show off the children’s talents and all their hard work.Different organizations they have donated to includes Make a Wish International, American Heart Association, USA, St Jude Children’s Hospital, and even Macmillan Cancer Care, UK. Let’s have a chat with him.

Interview with Guy

Angel- Thank you for taking the time out to talk to me today Guy, I know how busy your schedule can be. I had a few questions about the dance school you are running. What inspired you most about raising money for different organizations?

Guy-Good question, it was after one of our members passed away rl we felt it would be good to try and support good causes
Angel- How do think the business is thriving so far? How would you start your day of class? What would happen?

Guy- Well it isn't a business, want to be very clear about that. The L100 a month tuition is all ploughed back into the group for animations and anything else we need. we save up tuition and when we have enough get what we need. Also people are very kind and help us with donations.Usual class routine is warm ups, gentle exercises to get muscles relaxed, stretching on the barre to further get muscles ready. The we do bar exercises to perfect technique.  if we are working on a show we would then go to rehearse, if not working on a show we would do floor work in the studio and practice dances.

Angel- What do you think is the most challenging thing about what you do?
Guy-Oh my, I guess i could say trying to keep up to date, trying to keep everything fresh and interesting.

Angel-When are the ballet performances? Whens the next performance?
Guy- Next show is in early August

Angel-How can residents get involved and be part of the ballet?  where can people donate?
Guy-To donate to the show good cause there is a donation box for the show in the theatre to be kept informed of shows join the LPBA Balletomanes which can be done at our reception area. Then you will be informed of show days. At the moment we are full and can not really take any more students, which is good and bad. But people can always contact me to see the situation.

Angel- I know this is probably an obvious answer but do you truly enjoy what you do?
Guy-Yes 99% of the time and it has helped me to stay active mentally plus I am part of a great group of people from all over the world

Angel- Thank you for answering some of the many questions our readers wanted to know. I can’t wait to see many more of the dances and hard work that yall do pay off.
Guy- Thank you

BALLET PIXELLE Presents "OLMANNEN" -- a ballet in three acts- 5pm SLT Sundays & Wednesdays in September!

Olmannen is the story of souls fighting for love.  Centuries ago, Namon agreed to become a Devang to save his one true love, Seraphette, from evil.  Namon has waited centuries for her soul to be reborn to reclaim their love.  But now that she is reincarnated, Seraphette has changed.  Can Namon still love the new Seraphette?  Can Seraphette possibly accept the love of Namon, now a creature of the Overworld?

Principals:

Seraphette:  A beautiful dancer who has been recently reincarnated and now performs in public alleys.  She had a lover, Namon, in the past.

Namon:  Seraphette's true love; he agreed  to become a Devang to save her from evil.

Corps:

Evil beings (Devangs), who live in the Overworld
Tarts in the Public Alley
Sprites in the Mystical Garden

ACT ONE
(The past) The Ice Garden

Namon and Seraphette are happy and together as lovers, bound together by idealized love.  However, they become threatened by evil.  In order to save Seraphette from this evil, Namon battles the Devangs and agrees to join them.  Seraphette eventually dies a broken-hearted old woman.

ACT TWO
(The present) The Public Alley

Seraphette, dispirited and despairing, has been reincarnated as a dancer who performs with tarts in public alleys.  Namon has waited for Seraphette's soul to be reincarnated and he returns to find her again.  However, Seraphette has only a vague memory of him and Namon has to fight to remind her of their love.  Finally, he reveals himself to her and she falls in love with him again.

ACT THREE
(The future) The Mystical Garden

Their true love allows Namon to be released from evil and Seraphette to return from her despairing life.  Sprites herald their return.  They reunite forever in the mystical garden and ascend into "Olmannen", happy in their realized and true love.

BALLET PIXELLE PRESENTS "ARCHIDANCE" AN ORIGINAL BALLET- Sunday March 27th 5pm SLT

􀀀

Ballet Pixelle® will reprise an original ballet, “Archidance”, opening Sunday, March 27 at 5:00 pm

An Open Preview will be presented for Ballet Pixelle members and subscribers on Wednesday, March 23rd at 5:00 pm 2016.  "Archidance" was first performed in 2011.  Music is by Emmy-award winning composer Kurt Bestor.

In Ballet Pixelle's continuing exploration of the similarities, differences, and interactions of digital, virtual, and physical movement and dance, we have simplified movement into its basic architecture.  And brought digital, virtual, and physical dance together in one ballet.

How is dance constructed?  What is its architecture?  Form, color, shape?  Moving steps, turns, jumps?  High, slow, and medium height movements?  Sharp, flowing, dropping movement?  Let's look at the present, past, and future of dance and see how one influences the other.

First, we look at these influences and notation of a current ballet.

Then we see key figures in the construction of dance through the ages, including physical dancers mixed with our virtual dancers.

Finally, working with spheres, cubes, and triangles, we can see animated dancers -- who are not real people at all -- and then our virtual dancers who are real people all over the world -- Canada, England, Estonia, Japan, Portugal, Spain, and all time zones of the United States and Hawai`i, dancing together in the future of the art.  What are the similarities?  What are the differences?

Join us for an evening of mind-bending thought and an homage to dance.  Leave the theatre wondering...   Discussions following all performances.

Performances take place on Sundays at 5:00 pm and Wednesdays at 5:00 pm at the Ballet Pixelle Theater:

DiversionZDance "Circus Diabolique" at Danse Macabre - LEA26 Performance Review- The SL Enquirer and the full house gives it two thumbs up!- Lanai jarrico Reporting…

On February 22nd. I received an event notification that read,

"Ladies and gentlemen allow me to direct your attention to the center stage where you will bear witness to terrifying sights that will haunt you to the day you die....behold the Circus Diabolique and let the nightmare begin”.

That was enough to make me dig through my messy inventory and pull out my best clown costume and get ready for the show.

As I continued to read, “Be drawn into the world of the dark circus in this second dance piece by artist Fae varriale and her dance company DiversionzDance, which was created as a vehicle for marrying her love of contemporary dance with a love of creating immersive artwork, Choreography, environment design and costume concept by Fae Varriale”.

By that time, my curiosity was peaked, I went, watched and came away with this to say…

Spotlight on Inarra Saarinen and Ballet Pixelle- Shon Charisma Reporting

One of my favorite things to do on the grid is dance. Early in my three years on the grid, dance meant going to the club and clicking the animations in my inventory. Over the years, dance became a serious business, practice. It became precision, it became listening to the music closely so that I could make movements with the music that told a story. My love of dance, of music, of telling stories with dance showed its face a while back when I interviewed some great women in dance for SLE. When I was asked to do the spotlight feature on Ballet Pixelle® and talk to BP's artistic director and choreographer Inarra Saarinen, I was more than thrilled to jump in and learn more about this dynamic, unique dance company.

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: New Ballet Company Presents " Swan"

Now I can add dancing to horseback riding, sky diving and a few other things I have done in SL that I would have never had the chance or ability to do in real life. I got involved with Swan as an opportunity to work with friend and fellow storyteller Dubhna Rhiadra, for whom I have great respect.  She asked me if I would narrate a collaborative story-dance piece she had been working on and I was honored to accept.  Then, at a rehearsal, I was asked if I would be so kind as to stand in for a missing member of the corps, and suddenly I became a virtual ballerina.  I truly became a part of Independent Ballet Company and their debut production of Swan which is now performing at venues around the grid.

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: Review - Dramatiques Troupe Tours “Narnia” Production

Preparation is everything.  Especially when performing in Second Life.  Because performing in SL can be just as nerve-wracking as performing in the corporeal world.  Timing is still everything, as is paying attention to your audience – an audience who may not even be in your same time zone!  It is easy to look at something like a virtual dance performance and say that it is just so much hopping on poseballs. Yes, technically it is.  But hopping on the correct poseball, at the correct moment, and hopefully wearing the correct thing.  In this the technology of the grid does not always aid your efforts.  In all respects, preparation, design, and execution, the current Narnia tour of Dramatiques Performance Troupe shows pride in, and attention to these details.

SPORTS & LEISURE- Dance Ballet Academy Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

At 5 feet tall, Ballerina Stacey can still kick Kobe Bryant in the face.
You wouldn't have to hang out with me that long to figure out that I'm sort of a jock.
I'm the only one of my girlfriends who owns a hockey jersey. I'm the only person I've met here (outside of the people I met at the particular sims) who has watched a football practice. I'd have watched a football game as well, but I was in jail after a fistfight.
A good psychiatrist could probably convince me that I have some unresolved love-me-Daddy issues from my childhood, but I don't have time for that kind of sh*t. I just play a lot of golf, and maintain a level of fashion that makes Butch jokes not really work on me.
However, like any girl, I have a great deal of admiration for those who are Graceful. I'm not graceful, and say "Ooops" as much as "Hello" when I try to navigate a busy nightclub. It carries over into real life, as I was an awful waitress. You were getting your martini shaken, not stirred.
Of course, someone who plays on the computer as much as I do is bound to develop a little bit of manual dexterity, and a girl can use that skill to become a paragon of femininity. That's where this article is headed today.
There are certain girls who wield a bit more clout than others when people look at the Fairer Sex as a whole. Princesses, cheerleaders, diva-type singers, head nurses, Best Actresses and Supporting Aactresses, Miss (Your State Here), etc... if you're 8 year old daughter wants to grow up to be one, you know what I'm talking about.
