Relay Rockers Announce 2021 Event Dates

 

The Relay Rockers, RFL of SL’s oldest team, kicks off its 17^th season by announcing the schedule for its signature fundraising events in support of the American Cancer Society.
The team will once again host the Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back (CRFB) Top DJ Competition, Bid Me Bald Team Challenge, Bid The Lindens Bald and the popular multi-team RelayStock.  The Rockers are also planning their Blues for Life, Hard Cure for the Cure and Country fair events.

The CRFB DJ Competition begins March 27 with preliminary rounds through April 24^th. The competition is open to Club DJ and Radio Presenters who are challenged to raise funds for the Relay For Life during one-hour sets.  

The Top 4 competitors move on to the May 1^st & 2^nd semifinals rounds with the 2 remaining DJs performing in the Finals at RelayStock on May 14, 15 & 16. The event, which has been held since 2012, has raised nearly L$10 million in support of the ACS. Entry forms will be available at the team website: https://relayrockers.org/ beginning on Feb 20^th and is limited to the first 20 DJs to sign up.

The Bid Me Bald Team Challenge will be held on April 9^th through the 17^th and is open to all Registered RFL of SL Teams.  Teams fundraise to “Keep Their Hair” with the last place team pledging to go bald until RFL 2021 Weekend, June 13 & 14. Teams share kiosks with the Relay Rockers during the event.

Bid The Linden Bald will be held during the Rockers annual multi-team RelayStock weekend, May 14 -16.  Teams of Lindens and Moles compete to outraise each other and again the last-place group pledges to ‘shave’ their heads until Relay weekend 2021.

Bid The Lindens Bald-A Bid Me Bald Challenge – April 1st to 19th

In celebration of the 10th Season of the Relay Rockers signature fundraiser Bid Me Bald, the team announces a very special Bid Me Bald Challenge Event: BID THE LINDENS BALD to be held during the first 2 weeks of April.

Three teams of Linden avatars will join with the Rockers to support the Relay For Life of Second Life by challenging each other to ‘put their hair on the line’ for donations to Relay.

The teams, from the Concierge and Land Operations & LDPW and Customer Accounts departments, agree to dress their avatars without hair for a period determined by the total donations in the ‘winning’ team’s Kiosk.  The teams with the highest totals will get to keep their hair and the challenger will go bald 1 day for every L$5000 (or part of) raised by the top team.

The participating Lindens are:

The Concierge Team: Kat Linden, Whitney Linden, TJ Linden, Izzy Linden, Madori Linden, Vix Linden, Derrick Linden, Boris Linden, Theresa Linden and Lillian Linden .

The Land Operations & LDPW Team: Dee Linden, Patch Linden Bianca Linden, Silent Mole, Vitae Linden, Kona Linden, Kiera Linden, Magic Mole, Ancient Mole  and Shaman Linden.

The Customer Accounts Team: Ami Linden, Corki Linden, Kristin Linden, Ginger Linden, Jagix Linden, Solo Linden, Sparky Linden and Tommy Linden.

Each Team will place a special Kiosk at Relay dAlliez on April 1st and donations to the kiosks will continue until Haircut Day – April 19th @ 2-pm.  Kiosks will be totaled and Governor Linden will shear each of the Team Members during a special Bid Me Bald Party at Relay dAlliez

Its Back Again - For the SIXTH Year! RE:Bid Me Bald

Bid Me Bald - The Relay Rockers Signature Fundraising event in support of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Second Life, returns for a 6th year!   The event which pairs Relay Volunteers with a Barber Chair and a Pair of Scissors has been a mainstay event for the Rockers since 2007 and has been used by other teams across Relay For Life of Second Life.

In 2007 when Relay Rocker's co-founder Trader Whiplash was undergoing Chemotherapy for leukemia the Rockers offered to shave their heads in SL in support of him.  Instead the team decided to make it a fundraiser and to support and honor EVERY survivor who has borne the side effects of cancer treatments.  Volunteers make an appointment with the Rockers Barbershop and place a special kiosk out.  For each L$5000 raises they agree to go bald for 1 full day. Totals are rounded up and the average donation is about L$25,000.  


As always the first haircut of the season goes to Trader and he will be placing his kiosk out at Arinulta Beach
