“CHRISTMAS MEMORIES” The 10th Anniversary SL Christmas Expo Now Accepting Merchants

Christmas trees towering over your head while the Lionel train makes is journey around the base. Brightly wrapped gifts spread under the lowest boughs, as the aroma of sugar cookies and gingerbread drift in from the kitchen. Carols playing on the Victrola while the family gathers together to celebrate the holidays.  Christmas Memories of all shapes and sizes spring to mind each year as the holidays approach.

The 2020 SL Christmas Expo, December 4^th -13^th celebrates its 10^th anniversary this year. Once again merchants from across the grid will come together to Give the Gift of Hope to Children with Cancer.

In support of the American Cancer Society, the Expo and its partner Linden Lab has set a goal of $25,000 (L$6,250,000) to provide funding for the fight against childhood cancer.

The 2020 Expo, “Christmas Memories”, will feature a multiple region collection of more than 150 of Second Life’s premier Merchants, Breedable and One Of A Kind Auctions, Gotchas, Hunts and lots more.  As always you will find Christmas Tree lots, Ice Skating, our annual Snowman Building Contest and appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Holly Jolly Café returns bring nearly nonstop entertainment and the 3^rd Annual Lights of Hope contest will feature the best builders and teams of Lindens and Moles competing in a holiday home decoration competition to be judged by YOU.

Our 10 days of Christmas will culminate with our Live Auction, featuring amazing one of a kind items from Linden Lab and SL’s top creators and the Annual Holidays of Hope Ball.

We are entering an era when every high school student has to make a cubesat for his homework.  At the same time more and more satellites are launched, on average one per week.  We rely on space satellites now for GPS, for communication, for the weather report.

Space has brought us so much new technology; digital cameras, pens that work underwater, scratch resistant lenses.  What else is to come?

What do you see in the future?  GPS down to millimetre resolution?  Satellites that can count the strawberries in your crop?  Will we zap the butterfly out of the sky before it causes chaos?

In honor of Relay For Life, Buckin’ Cancer will be presenting a two day concert! March 31st and April 1st

Fri. March 31st from 7:00 pm - 10pm slt; Beyonce performance begins at 9:00 pm & Sat. April 1sts from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Slt

Featuring The Divas Tribute Band plus special guest DJs, held in the concert hall in the sky. this event is geared to raise funds for research with the hope of one day ending cancer, celebrate the accomplishments thus far and remember those we've lost along the way. The night will begin with special guest djs and ending with a performance from The Divas Tribute Band. Their repertoire consists of “live” performances and music by the Divas of today. 

At every performance they offer a wide range of entertainment for their audiences. Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society and has been active, and continually growing in Second Life for 10 years. In 2005, the first Relay For Life of Second Life (RFL of SL) was attended by a few hundred avatars and raised almost $5,000 US dollars for the American Cancer Society. As of July 2014 RFL of SL ranks number 17th out of 5000 teams worldwide in donations received. We have brought in over 2 million US dollars to help with the fight against cancer. 

The two (2) day celebration starts Fri. March 31st from 7:00 pm - 10pm slt; Beyonce performance begins at 9:00 pm & Sat. April 1sts from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Slt; Rihanna performance begins at 8:00 pm. The performance is Avi-Friendly and open to the public, free of charge. Please join us as we fight for a cure.
