For those of you unfamiliar with Tiny Empires, it is a medieval-themed multiuser HUD-based game within Second Life created by The Emperor Ultralite Soleil. Back in 2014, The SL Enquirer interviewed Second Life resident Ironman Zeplin about his involvement in Tiny Empires. 8 Years later, he is still involved. We caught up with him to find out what kept him so engaged all these years and what other things he's involved in Second Life.
Interview with Ironman Zeplin
SLE: Hi Ironman, it has been 8 years since we last interviewed you. With many residents coming and going in Second Life, it is nice to see a familiar face. How has Second Life been treating you?
Ironman: It's wonderful to see and talk with you Lanai. SL has been treating me very well.
SLE: That’s great to hear. Second Life is full of so many things to do and get involved in. Tiny Empires is one of the longest-running in world games with a very successful run. Can you tell our readers how it has evolved since you first started playing TE?
Ironman: Emperor Soleil is always looking for new twists to the game. Whether it be no potions from the Alchemist or his latest which is Ethereal Acres. This is new and it's a learn-as-you-go process. Each type of Ethereal Acres has its own rewards.
SLE: Being innovative and keeping things interesting is key. No wonder it is a success! You have your own line within Tiny Empires called Zeplin Empires. Can you tell us how that came about?
Ironman: That was the group I had for people under me in Tiny Empires at the time of the initial interview. I am now the King of Veritas Fidelis. I formed and ascended to the Throne as King on February 20, 2015. We just celebrated our 7th year.
SLE: Congratulations on that achievement! Can you tell us exactly what Veritas Fidelis is about?
Ironman: Truth, Honor, and Loyalty is the motto of the Kingdom
SLE: Three very good traits to have in both real life and Second Life. Are you recruiting for Veritas Fedelis? If so, what kind of participants are you looking for?
Ironman: We are always looking for new members. Anyone who spends time on Second Life can play. Being task-oriented and having a goal-focused mind will help you advance faster.
SLE: How can participants join Veritas Fedelis?
Ironman: They can contact me directly and I will get them set up with Demo HUD.
SLE: Aside from Veritas Fidelis, what else are you involved in?
Ironman: I am still an active DJ. I was inducted into the Second Life DJ Hall of Fame in July 2014. One of my greatest joys and most fun is when I DJ for a group called Drame Libre. I am one of 6 DJs who rotate to provide the music for their weekly Saturday night Theme Party. I would encourage everyone to check them out. I DJ at Hooligan's on Thursday evening 6-8 pm SLT. I have been involved with Relay for Life and Strides Against Breast Cancer for the past several years and am CEO of two clubs, Hooligan's and Fair Game. Both clubs have a variety of events and places to hang out and enjoy your time in Second Life.
SLE: Being involved in those very important charities is commendable. Thank you for all you do. Second Life allows us to do great things for this virtual community that extends beyond the virtual world into real life but I don’t think Second Life gets enough attention in the real world media for all that this community does. I like to ask this question, there is no right or wrong answer since we all come here for our own purposes. Would you consider Second Life an extension of your real life or just a game?
Ironman: For some, it is a real extension of real life as it allows you to do things you cannot do or would be afraid to try. In a technical sense, Second Life is a game, however that being said it is also not a game because real humans with real feelings and emotions are the drivers of the avatars.
SLE: Well said, Ironman. Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Ironman: Enjoy your Second Life for it is yours. Be kind and thoughtful towards all you meet and know. Understand that not everyone thinks and believes as you do and know that it's ok. Please don't take it personally if someone disagrees with you.
