In a virtual platform where three months is often considered a "long-term relationship," anything that can last for a year or more is cause for festive celebration. At eClipse Club & Resort, they will be pulling out all the stops on Saturday, January 30th beginning at 3pm pacific/slt in a nine hour marathon celebrating their first year in Second Life.
Eclipse's full roster of DJs will be spinning a wide variety of musical styles, plus there will be ongoing raffles for store gift cards from name brands all over the grid, even more prizes, and a hunt. The celebration is intended to thank the faithful VIPs for supporting the Club's growth over the last 12 months, and entice new guests to come and enjoy eClipse's brand of music, dancing, and party-hardy-hood.
Endurance and long-term thinking is part of the DNA at eClipse, founded a year ago on January 29th. Club owners JAdmiral Maelstrom and Iniry Vaher have 27 years of SL DJ experience between them. Maelstrom's popular Disco Tuesday Night is one of the longest running DJ shows in Second Life, started back when he first began his long virtual spin 16 years ago. It's safe to say they have both seen a lot of clubs come and go in that time.
They envisioned a destination that was open, warm, with a friendly, helpful staff. "Not one of those little box builds where no one talks to you." They wanted variety, and a diverse roster of DJs who can explore fully a wide range of musical genres and themes.
The original quarter region parcel featured the main open air club, an inviting oval canopied space with lots of natural woods and framed by tropical plants. It also included a beach venue, and "The Patch" - an outdoor in-the-round venue intended to be flexible and allow for one-night special theme builds.
The first six months of eClipse proved so successful that they expanded this fall to half a region. Refreshing the already successful trio of spaces, they included a Pirate Ship/Dock venue, a 24/7 games area, and a much-rumored underwater caves build. The Resort itself is a destination well worth the teleport, peppered with little points of interest, and nooks for hanging out, chatting with friends, and chillin'.
But as is the case with anything in Second Life, it's not just the cool digs that make the place, it's the people. There are DJ sessions every day of the week, catering to a predominantly North American crowd in the evening hours beginning at 7pm pacific time. The close knit roster of DJs and hosts works together, dedicated to making the club a place where people are comfortable and have fun. "I've been around a lot of clubs and performing venues, and I can tell you that these people (referring to Maelstrom and Vaher) know what they are doing," said one DJ, "They have a vision, and they create a supportive environment for staff and guests alike."
The party begins at 3pm slt, in the main club on Abaris d'Alliez http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Abaris%20dAlliez/96/29/22
