Fiction For a Cure will take place on July 11 to 18 and will be in support of Relay For Life of Second Life. This exciting event brings real life authors in world to celebrate fiction. Below is more information about this fundraiser and check out the official Fiction For a Cure website for signup info:
Relay For Life of Second Life is in its 10th year, and this year, we are pleased to present Fiction for a Cure as a new fundraiser for this very worthy cause. From July 11-18 on the American Cancer Society region in Second Life, we will offer writing classes, readings, a raffle, and auctions – a silent auction and a live auction, hosted by New York Times Bestselling author Michael A. Stackpole. Most interestingly our auctions will feature first life books, all signed, and some personalized by many of the world’s most popular authors, including New York Times Bestselling authors and award-winners. We will be offering works from Michael A. Stackpole, Dana Stabenow, Alan Dean Foster, and Robert E. Vardeman, just to name a few.
Authors interested in donating signed books, personalized books, rare volumes, or Tuckerizations for auction are encouraged to review our Terms and Conditions, and to check our Participate page for further details. 100% of all auction sales are paid directly to Relay For Life of Second Life.
Additionally, we will be selling raffle tickets for the Fiction for a Cure fundraising raffle. Tickets are L$250 a piece, and each ticket purchase will give the purchaser L$250 in store credit at Clutter for Builders, as well as a chance to win gift cards and store credit at a number of stores across the grid. The final raffle packages, and participating stores will be listed on this site on July 10th. The raffle drawing will take place at 7pm SLT on Friday, July 18th. The winner(s) will be announced during the live auction. 100% of all raffle ticket sales are paid directly to Relay For Life of Second Life.
Please see our Schedule for further details about readings and classes. Second Life writing community members and leaders are encouraged to contact Kat Alderson via IM about offering readings, book discussions, classes and meetings!
