How to Create a Store on SL Marketplace- Tea Couturier Reporting...

In Second Life if you are a content creator and have a store or shop in world you know how important it is to have one on SL marketplace. This storefront website helps your customers find your products quick and easily even when they are not logged into Second Life.

How SL Marketplace works

If you are a resident of Second Life, you can log into Sl Marketplace using your user name and password. If you have lindens to spent, you can make purchases. If you own a store in Second Life, you can sell products on the SL marketplace website. For example, if you are at work, unable to log into Second Life or just don’t want to spent too much time shopping around Second Life for clothes, furniture or accessories, the SL marketplace is the next best way to browse and buy what you are looking for.  You can even purchase products as a gift for other avatars and it will be delivered to them in Second Life.

How do you create your store on marketplace?

Well it isn’t that complicated really.
1st step would to be make sure you have all the products you wish to sell on marketplace ready and boxed. Make sure you know how much you wish to sell each item for and have a name for them. Also make sure all the permissions are in place for each item you are selling. As to sell a product you do not wish the customer to be able to mod, copy or even tran. This could affect your business.

The next step is to log on to the SL Marketplace. Once you have logged in go to at the top right hand side of the page and click on “My Marketplace” and look for “Merchant Home”. Click on this and it will take you to another page.  On the left hand side of the page look for “Store Set up” and click on this. This page will enable you to create the name of your store and any information about it. Once you have completed this click save.

Now log into SL. Once in SL look at the top part of your viewer for the options (each viewer is different) look for “Merchant outbox” Click on this and it will produce a grey box. Here you will drag all your products and items you wish to sell on marketplace will be stored. In the old days this would have been a box you would have rezzed in world.
Drag all the items you wish to sell into the section where it says “Drag items here to create a folder” (It doesn’t matter if you have boxed them”. Once you have sent all the products you wish to sell. Click sent to marketplace button and once it has been processed a message will pop up saying complete.

Now you can either stay in SL or log out for the next part.

You will then pull up your browser where you had left the page for your marketplace store still up. Look for “Manage my listings” and click on this. It will then take you to the page where you will see all your products you loaded in SL on the page.

You will need to click on each product where it says edit and this will take you to the product page where you will fill in the product name, price and photo.

Once completed you will click save and it will take you back to the “manage my listings” page. Once you are happy with the info you have put in. You will then click activate and it will then sync with your product and your store page. Once you have completed all your products you are selling on Marketplace and have activated them. Your store will go live, allowing your customers and future customers access to your store out of Second Life
