Call of the Virtual Wild- Africa in Second Life- Piers Diesel Reporting...

Some of you may have had the opportunity to visited Africa or have gone on a safari adventure.
If you have not visited Africa in Real Life, that’s OK, you can experience a virtual version in Second Life.

There are a few sim designers that have created replicas of different countries in Africa for you to explore.

The Drakensburg Mountains

This is a mountain range sim set in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Here you will find romantic music, horse trails, mountains and of course nature. If you walk to the top of the mountain as though you were hiking, when you reach the summit you will see the entire sim.  The mist gives visitors sense and feel as though they are really way up high in the mountains. This is a clever idea.

*AfriCARriBeaN-IMAGINE AFRICA – Beach
This is a beach set in an African theme. If you like African music, you will hear beats being played at this venue. They host African Night parties and it provides a friendly and inviting atmosphere. This sim has been open since January 2014 and has already had 5546 people in traffic. There is also an African art gallery for you to explore.

African Safari
If you have always wanted to go on a safari trip in real life but have not had the chance. Here is your chance in Second Life!
As soon as you TP onto the sim you are greeted by a herd of elephants, with an animated Lion hiding out in the tall grass. I decided to take the balloon ride to get a view of the entire sim,  it is an easy way to get around the island but enabled me to enjoy the sim and the creations much better.

Wherever you go in Second Life, there is an adventure to be had. One of the best things about this virtual world is the ability to explore many different cultures. I have no doubt you will have a fun time exploring Africa in Second Life.
