Just like in real life – there is a mulititude of different  jobs available in SL.

 In this feature we take a close look at popular job positions, which are the best paying, including taking a look at some freebie options on how to raise funds.

Real Estate

The number one position here is Real Estate .... why ? - because believe it or not it brings in a lot of money.

 SL Real Estate Mogul (name kept concealed to protect this person‘s identity) has sold over $500 million lindens worth of real estate – which works out to be approximately $1 million in real life currenty – for this reason alone this makes real estate the number one paying position in SL.

Adult Industry

The adult industry is huge to say the very least – these days with Voice / Cams and Chat you can be an Escort or a Web Cammer showcasing your assets to residents of the virtual world and rolling in the dough.  This would have to be one of the most busy and highest paying jobs in SL.

Current rates that can be expected are up to $1000 L per 20 mins for cams.

Hosts

Hosts welcome guests and make sure visitors are directed to the right areas that they need to be quickly – have the wrong host and your popular corner could end up vacant while other areas of your sim have scattered customers walking around.

Expect to receive from $100 L per hour with these types of positions.

Freelance newspaper reporter

Freelance newspaper reporters get to report on specific topics as well as topics of their choice – this is a great position for those that want to be in the know.

Expect to receive from $500-1050L per published article

DJ's

DJ's can be one of the most important people you need for a night club.  Without the right type of music to set the scene in your club, your guests could leave unhappy wanting more.

DJ's pay can vary a lot – expect to be paid from $100 - $500 or more per show.

Musicians

Live musicians and musicians can be classed in the same category as photographers and artists as that is exactly what they are..... that said each one can charge a different price from working for Tips to being paid top dollar from $1,000-7000L or more per performance

Photographers

Need a wedding photo or just a happy snap to show off your new dress or tux ?

Photographers can be paid a varied amount as well....

Expect to be paid between $10 L - $500 Linden per photo and between $500 - $1000 per photo shoot jobs

Managers

Club and venue managers are crucial to a smooth operating venue – wages for these positions differ depending on the type of work but one can expect to receive from $400 L per week as a manager.

Dancers / Pole Dancers

Pole dancing and dancing in general can range from easy such as pole dancing to extremely complicated – such as theatre show performances.

Expect to be paid from $100 L per hour

Lucky Chairs

A lucky chair is a chair with a specific letter assigned to it – for example C – if your name begins with C you can sit on the chair and claim your prize

Expect to receive $1 L for every correct win

Sploders

Sploders are balls setup by club owners to distribute funds to the current patrons in the area of the club, they pay out usually once 3500 seconds or 35 mins has expired, the amount contributed to the sploder by the owner – say $100 L gets devided between how many people have joined the sploder for example 10 people will each receive between $5L - $10 L each these can be popular but are limited in numbers.

Gambling Arcade Machines aka Pokies

Free to play pokies are limited and can be time consuming.

The object of the game is to keep playing until you beat a pre set number.

Expect to be paid between $1 L - $10 L with the average being $2 L

Wedding Officiant / Wedding Ceremony

These are a popular form of employment with many couples in SL becoming married, just like a nighclub though – have a great wedding with the right officiant and have a nightmare wedding with the wrong one.

Expect to earn from $200 L per service up to and exceeding $1500 L for a lavish ceremony

Charity Work / Volunteer work

There are many charities and clubs in SL that require volunteers to raise funds and to promote their causes although the pay is zero in most cases the rewards from meeting new people and helping some one out some times can be a reward in itself.

Expect to receive $0 to some lindens for the work.

SL Scripter / Programmer

These are the people that build the special items you require – either script programmers or physical builders they can earn quite good money from real life companies in SL – some example of their work include INTEL / AMD / COKE / FORD etc etc

Expect to receive from $500 - $1000 L per hour for scripting and between $500 - $2000 per build.

There are many many more positions within SL these are just a few of them.

To apply for positions I recommend contacting club and venue managers directly and have some form of resume listing previous SL work experience.
