On June 23, 2013, Second Life turns 10 years old and there are many fun an exciting birthday celebrations and special items available you to celebrate! 

To get into the spirit of things, Linden Labs, has created special mesh tshirts, old styled tshirts, and a birthday hat. Often for special celebrations, Linden Labs will create a special Linden bear. This year they took the Linden bear concept a bit further and have created a birthday bear avatar, so you can really get into the mood of celebrating. And what is a birthday celebration without a birthday cake? A special Linden Labs created birthday cake is also available for you! All of these items are free of charge and you can find them in the special marketplace category.

Last year Linden Labs announced that future birthday celebrations would be held and ran by the Second Life community. So instead of just one centralized birthday event, users like you and me can throw their own birthday party for Second Life. Many have already planned and announced their events, with the larges being the SL10B or Second Life Community Celebration. 

This event will be spread out over 20 sims and run from June 16 to June 29.

Events include a photo contest, nonstop live singers, performers, and dj events. The sims will also feature a large birthday cake that is in the center of the sims and crossing four sims. Join the inworld group, The SLB Community, to stay up to date on information related to this event.

Another Second Life birthday event is the SL10B By Us event. This event is also a joint birthday and charity fundraiser, with proceeds going to Feed a Smile. Feed a Smile is a real life charity that raises money to combat poverty and hunger for children in Africa. This event will feature music, art, and other events from June 9 to June 30.
