If you are in tune with your religious and spiritual
side, Second Life offers many locations and groups for the religious and
spiritual minded individual.
Religious & spiritual locations can be divided
up into three categories. The first category is replicas of famous landmarks.
This category includes replicas of such famous religious landmarks as The
Cathedral of Notre Dame. The second category are sims which have actual in
world religious and spiritual services that you can attend. The last category
are places of meditation, where you can sit and reflect in your
surroundings. So how do you find these
places? An easy way is the Second
Life Destinations Guide, which has a Spirituality & Belief
category.
I decided to look for a category 1 religious and
spiritual destination and combed the list and found the Basilica
of St. Peter the Apostle. The basilica was decorated with
wedding decorations and included many benches for one to sit and reflect. The
location is available for weddings and featured a realistic pipe organ above
the door.
If you are interested in attending religious and
spiritual church services, then try the House of Prayer Church. This church
offers regular church and prayer services and even has gender specific groups
and meetings. The church offers prayer
requests and has a staff of many to help you with your religious and spiritual
needs.
If you are looking for a place to meditate and just
reflect spiritually then try the Tower of Mediation. The
Tower of Mediation is almost 300 meters in the sky and offers a place for you
to sit and mediate in Second Life. The view was quite far and pleasant to look
at.
Of course Second Life offers locations for many other
religions. The Spirituality & Belief category also had locations for Buddhism, Seventh-Day
Adventist, Hinduism, Unitarian
Universalism, Wicca, Islam,
and Mormons. If
you are interested in networking and teleporting to various spiritual and intellectual
places in Second Life, then schedule a visit to the SpiritGate Metaverse sim
is a treat. The sim has teleport stations for people network and visit other
spiritual, psychology, arts, and various other destinations in Second Life.
The Second Life destinations directory is not the only
means of finding religious and spiritual locations; you can do a search in
groups for various individual religions and for other locations that may not be
listed in the destinations directory.
