It is such a different
and rare topic. Isn't it? Let's get into role-playing (RP for short).
Role-play refers to acting out in a particular character, using
the words and customs of that character, become a mimic. Interesting eh? Keep
in mind that actions which are OOC (Out of character) MUST BE noted in some
way, or not used in this mode of communication this the basic rule.
Some would say, " Second Life© can be described as Role Play
". This is actually true, but within SL"it refers to a restricted environment
where explicit or implicit rules of conduct are required. It is also used to
describe a setting where role-play is expected" [1]
BDSM, Military, high-fantasy and families groups are some
settings associated with common Role-plays.
One of the types of RP found in Second Life can be referred to
as the Furry community. Fandom is a general term referring to both a
genre of art and literature (including comics), or even a specific life style of Furries. They are animals with
human personalities and characteristics; this is what we call anthropomorphism.
In world, furry is about
avatars that use prim attachments to take the appearance of an animal or a mythical
creature and combine it with the basic humanoid framework. They use onomatopoeic words to communicate and
" make " the same sounds as animals in the communication systems
(e.g. Rawrrr).
Sexual aspects: "According to four different
surveys, 14–25% of the fandom members report homosexuality, 37–52% bisexuality,
28–51% heterosexuality, and 3–8% other forms of alternative sexual
relationships. Of the furry fans that reported being in a relationship
(approximately half of the surveyed population), 76% were in a relationship
with another member of furry fandom. Examples of sexual aspects within furry
fandom include erotic art and furry-themed cybersex. The term "yiff" is most commonly used to indicate
sexual activity or sexual material within the fandom—this applies to sexual
activity and interaction within the subculture whether in the form of cybersex
or offline.
Sexual attraction to furry characters is a polarized issue within the
fandom; in one survey with 4300 furry respondents, 37% answered that sexual
attraction is important in their furry activities, 38% were ambivalent, and 24%
answered that it has little or nothing to do with their furry activities. In a
different online survey, 33% of furry respondents answered that they have a
"significant sexual interest in furry", another 46% stated they have
a "minor sexual interest in furry", and the remaining 21% stated they
have a "non-sexual interest in furry".[2]
What kind of
activities do the furry communities offer? Well, there isn't much difference
than human avatar communities. There are several RP sims created
absolutely for furries like the Furry Village. It is a community with roots in
the old Teen Grid. There are plenty of things to do. It features a marketplace,
a hotel, beaches, piers, and plenty of room for exploration! They often hold
events and everyone is invited to participate.
Here
are other Furry Communities you can tour!
Bobtail
Bakery & Friends is a new sim now open, this is a little bakery for
fat/chubby furries to hang out and grab a bite or twenty.
