Memorial day originated after the American civil war to honor the fallen union soldiers. Since the early 1900’s it has been observed on the last Monday of May in the United States. This is a day of honor and remembrance of all the courageous men and women that have since died in the United States Armed forces. It also marks the beginning of Summer and vacation season. Observers visit cemeteries to deliver flowers and flags, others celebrate with cookouts including fireworks and family reunions.

Right across the Potomac River in Virginia, Arlington national Cemetery is another location where observers are gathering in remembrance of all those that gave their lives for our freedoms. On the West Coast and in the middle of the country. All sorts of similar festivals, Museums tours, memorials and BBQ’s are going on.
