Project Jason
The creators behind "Project Jason" really touched me with their story about losing their son and how that experience inspired them to help other families. They didn't give up hope for their son Jason, but they had to move forward. They presented Jason's Law to the State Judiciary Committee, and it was passed on May 25, 2005. It allows for the creation of a state missing persons clearinghouse to gather and disseminate information about missing persons of all ages. Due the passing of Jason's Law on October 6, 2006, Jason's parents founded Project Jason which will continue to locate and to help missing people for years to come.

NSW Animal Rescue
Due to my love for animals and concern for their well being, NSW Animal Rescue was very interesting. They aim to reduce the number of abandoned pets put to death each year in pounds and shelters. They do so by taking them into their shelter and when they arrive they are assessed, vet checked, groomed, wormed (heart worm tested if over 6 months), desexed, and micro-chipped. The animals are then placed in the care of the dedicated volunteers of "NSWAR" until they can find homes for them. I found this very touching that a group works so hard to help these animals and I hope they can continue to help them in the future.

Giving Circles Network
The Giving Circles Network caught my eye while walking around looking for nonprofits to cover. So I contacted Anika Pastorelli to ask a little about it. The interview had a rocky start seeing as it was my first, but I did gather some information about GCN's future intentions and a little about what they do. GCN provides information about "Giving Circles" which donate to larger nonprofits. They seek to enable giving circles and other individuals involved in shared giving to make their charitable contributions more meaningful. Anika also mentioned that they are probably the only organization that provides information about 250 "Giving Circles." In the future they would like to update not just themselves but some of the other nonprofits. They would also like to facilitate networking among non affiliated individuals among new or existing giving circles by providing a forum, resources, knowledge base, and communication and organizational tools so that they can identify and coordinate with others who have common giving goals. I look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future and hope they can keep providing their information.
