Opportunities of Second Life™ are growing and many of us can’t even imagine our real life without Second Life.

IBM™ company hires more than 20,000 people per year from different countries of the world. In order to help people to go through geographical and cultural barriers IBM opened virtual office in Second Life. Using 3D technologies they created virtual workplace where employees from different parts of the world won’t feel isolated from work.
Equally with IBM virtual offices in SL™ have such companies as Dell™, Sun™, AOL™, Warner Bros™, Sony™, Toyota™, Mercedes-Benz™, Adidas™, ReebokUnliever™, Cisco Systems™. Some companies even provide online courses for their stuff using Second Life.
Republic of Maldives became the first country to open embassy in SL™ on a special Diplomatic Island, so one can talk to ambassador about visas, trade and other issues. It really wonders because due to 2005 there was a total of 19,000 internet users in Maldives. Minister of Maldives considers this act as an important step in developing international relationships.
Also in Second Life you can find NASA island which was created by NASA Research Center™. CoLab agency of NASA functions here,whose aim is to create a community of people interested in cosmic researches.
It is also amazing that there are islands invested by the United States Army™ in Second Life. Here , they hold events for soldiers, members of their families and as a result, there can provide opportunities for young people who are interested in real-life military services.

Using 2ndMe, one can make full 3D Avatar which can be then exported in Face-book™ or Second Life™.
At the same time users of 2ndMe are allowed to use a program which is considered to be an alternative to Second life Marketplace,where user can find necessary clothing and other items. Using this program one can add such elements to the avatar as ears,mouth,eyes and etc.
2ndMe started in July 2011 and there are more than 4,000 users to date. Creators promise that in October 2011 there will be an opportunity to create avatar from a photograph. To download avatar into this service costs 50 points which is equal to 50 Linden Dollars.
There is also a new project called Second You™. Both Russian specialists and Linden Lab were involved in this project the main idea of which is creation of 3D avatars looking exactly as their users. Customers are mostly organizations such as IBM,Microsoft, Nvidia™. These services are expensive enough for mass users of Second Life but we expect that in future there will be avatars having their users’ real-life appearance.
