"Hostage in Time" Book Launch Party in NYC by Linda Lauren!
Lanai Jarrico: Hi Linda! It’s always great to chat it up with you. You always have something going on and also some very cool events coming up in September and November. Let’s start by letting our readers know what you do and how you found Second Life?
Linda Lauren: I am a 4th generation Psychic Medium, Energy Artist, Pet Psychic and Reiki Practitioner both in real life and in Second Life. I discovered SL around 2006 through a few podcasts I was following at the time. I wasn’t on very long before I decided to become a paid resident and was soon asked to do readings for a Halloween event. We had a lot of crashing back then and I needed an assistant to help with crowd control and appointments. I asked my RL and SL Business Manager, (Sumi Portola in-world) to join so she could help!
Lanai Jarrico: When I met you and Sumi at ETU, your metaphysical Center in Mountainside, NJ, I got to experience a reading by you and a Reiki session with Sumi. The things you said to me really went deep into who I am and what you see for the future of my projects. You encouraged me to continue to do what I do and really focus in school and I have. I must say it has been a very interesting year since then. The Embracing The Universe Sim (etu abbracciare) is lovely and has a nice calming vibe about it. It must be all the energizing crystals, the meditation areas, beautiful landscape and the Energy Art that you do. The images you create really pull you in, the colors all have meaning and you can only create them from the vibes you feel from people. Can you tell me about this process?
Linda Lauren: Linda Lauren’s Energy Art™ is a reading of the colors of energy of people, places and objects, as it relates to the aura. When certain colors are intuitively combined together with intention, they create a specific energy for a desired result, like healing, harmony or money. Think of an aura photo and its array of colors. Now imagine those colors have a movement and a purpose that is designed to create an uplifting mood. Do you want prosperity? Romance? Good health? Harmony? Peace? You can do that via the vibration and translation of colors that, as a Medium, I read for you and visually express for you.
I have discovered a unique process of breathing life into spirit by way of this new artwork. Each picture is accompanied by a translation to explain what the colors mean to you, as well as the purpose they serve. The artwork is achieved through a proprietary process using at least 4 different computer programs.
Lanai Jarrico: What are some of the other things visitors can see at Linda Lauren’s Embracing the Universe?
Linda Lauren: Whether we are in RL or SL we offer the same, or similar products and tools, to help heal and educate our visitors. We are known for our high quality Reiki merchandise and tables, meditation stations and crystals. When you come to us at Etu Abbracciare you will find a main center with a metaphysical library, cozy areas to seek meditation and/or prayer, Seers, our metaphysical store; the Angel Retreat and our Crystal Cave. The cave is a very special one to me because I modeled it after a real one not far from my RL Center. We also have a stage where we hold events and concerts.
Lanai Jarrico: One thing I find unique about you is that, your Second Life really parallels your real life. You are who you are in both worlds, including the name, how did that come about?
Linda Lauren: When I first joined Second Life I was Monica Renneville and I still have that avie, however within a short time I established myself as a business and wanted to use my real name because I was becoming well known in world. They were not letting you do that at the time unless you could prove crossover business, which meant that I was making a living in SL with my RL name and business. I was, and I was granted access and permission to be Linda Lauren in Second Life too.
Lanai Jarrico: Now that readers have an idea about what you do here in this virtual world, let’s get to this new book of yours, Hostage in Time. Without giving too much of the story away, can you share what it’s about?
Linda Lauren: While filming the historic Serenity house, home of Thomas Edison’s patent attorney Jonathan Brisbane, things become very complicated for photographer Amanda Lloyd when she suddenly finds herself transported back in time to 1884. Accused by Brisbane of being a spy, she is put under house arrest, becoming a hostage to history. As she becomes accustomed to life in the 19th century, her growing love for Jonathan is shattered when a scorned traitor sets them up, forcing the pair to work together to unravel the secrecy of missing documents before Amanda is arrested for treason and history is changed forever. With the help of a spiritualist medium, they are able to find and understand their destiny—but is it already too late? Deftly capturing the mysterious spiritual journey while simultaneously building romantic and life-threatening tensions, Hostage in Time will leave you guessing until the final climactic sequence.
Lanai Jarrico: How long have you been writing this book?
Linda Lauren: I have written 10 time travel novels in the last decade and have them piled in manuscript boxes in my office! I generated the idea for this several years ago, but the process of writing took about a year of research and then another year of writing and polishing.
Lanai Jarrico: Recently you launched a press release about your real life Book Launch Party in New York at the Merchant’s House Museum, NY’s most haunted house, according to the NY Times. That is a very interesting place to launch a book! I will be there to get my copy and already RSVP’d on your Facebook page. Can you tell me what to expect when I get there?
Linda Lauren: Though I also will have a virtual book signing in Second Life on our island at some point, the launch party at the Merchant’s House Museum in New York on September 15, 2011 (from 6pm to 9pm) was the top of my list because it is the only family home in NYC preserved intact from the 19th century…and yes, it’s haunted! Expect refreshments of the time period, great ambiance, and copies of my book with me there signing them! There will also be a special gift in one of the books for sale, so don’t be surprised if you win! As to what to expect…expect the unexpected!
Lanai Jarrico: Aside from this interesting book release, in November, Max, one of the ancient 13 crystal skulls, (and the only one found to be authentic that is making the rounds) will be at your Metaphysical Center in New Jersey. Last year when Max came with his caretaker JoAnn Parks, I had a great time.
Oh one last thing! I love the new website! But I don’t see any links for SL residents. What type of services do you offer and how would you like residents to contact you?
Linda Lauren: Thank you so much! We worked hard on that site and it took almost a year with the help of some very talented professionals! We are very happy with it and it will keep evolving. As to SL, there are links at the bottom of our Second Life page. There is a link for Etu Abbracciare island, another for our products in the SL Marketplace, and a link for your readers at the SL Enquirer. The type of services offered include: psychic readings, Reiki healing sessions, guided meditation, and lessons on how to use some of the products one metaphysically encounters in RL and in SL
