SL ARTS & LITERATURE: Shakespeare Goes Tropical!

Just when you thought that the summer’s theatrical offerings on the grid had come to a conclusion, here’s once last chance to experience some great performances in that fine old tradition of the outdoor summer production.  Fruit Island Events, The Seanchai Library, and the StoryFest Events group will present Bard on the Virtual Beach in two different performances, Saturday August 20th at 3:00pm and Sunday, August 21st at Noon.

Bard on the Virtual Beach will feature selections from a wide array of works from the Shakespearean Canon, including: TAMING OF THE SHREW, JULIUS CAESAR, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, TWELFTH NIGHT, THE TEMPEST, HAMLET, MACBETH, HENRY V, KING LEAR and more!  A cast of virtual performers from around the grid, some of whom never appear together under other circumstances, will join together at the Fruit Island’s Mango Beach for this festival event.

Two 90 minute performances, Saturday & Sunday, will present unique programs of the works of the Bard of Avon.  See one!  See both!  Then join an Elizabethan Ball after Sunday’s performance has concluded featuring DJ AutoPilotPatty Poppy from Radio Reil with Elizabethan music at the Mango Yacht Club at 2pm.

About attending performances in SL:
  • Lag is no one’s friend.  It’s best to wear as few HUDS, Scripted items, and elaborate hair as possible to better enjoy the performance (though you do have to be clothed) – leave the bling and the 2000 prim hairdo in your inventory and come clad as simply as possible, the better to contribute to everyone’s enjoyment of the performance.
  • These performances will be in voice, so have it enabled when you arrive so you can hear (but your microphone off please).  The volume of individual performers can be controlled on your active speaker list.  You might want to know where that is in your viewer before you arrive.
  • Audio gestures and sounds that are not part of the performance while the performance is in progress are considered rude in both the real and virtual worlds.
  • Appropriate applause, and sharing your enjoyment of the performances in typed local chat are not considered rude in most venues, including at Bard on the Virtual Beach.
