SL has their own universe of marketing, and it's mostly good. What I mean by this is that the people who make my jeans IRL aren't the ones who make them on SL. So, you get different fashions here, different styles... different universe.
However, there are a few things from that nasty ol' real world that you would like to see on SL. I managed to stumble across one of them in my travels, and I thought I'd share my good fortune with you. Yes.. as often happens to me and probably happens to you... something that I didn't know existed on SL became something that I absolutely had to have within a nanosecond of my becoming aware of it.
That's how I came to own my new Air Jordans. They're not called that... Nike would sue them. However, you can play around with the letters a bit. In the great scheme of things, no one gets harmed. Mine are called Air J Rampage 2010 or something like that. What you know as Chuck Taylors are called Chucks here.
Keep in mind, I don't actually Rampage that much. Sneakers aren't that important to my wardrobe. I'm a journalist, and am usually in a dress of some sort. The sports I do take part in, like wrestling, see me looking less stupid if I wear heels. My avvy is 5'3" barefoot. I'm both short and stubborn... and the rest of you are too tall.
However, one never knows when I might get into a pickup basketball game, or maybe run from the police. it's better to have a 199L pair of virtual sneakers and not need them than it is to need the Air J Rampage 2010s and not have them.
See for yourself. I love this store, which is called Gangsta Hip Hop Gangster Shop. Stupid name, but they have some cool stuff.
