If you play SL a lot, and let Halloween go by without visiting a bunch of Haunted Houses....well, you deserve whatever eggs you get hit with on All Hallowed Eve.

Now, not much you see here will disturb you to the point where you lose control of your bodily functions and have to hit the inventory for some dry clothes.

But a good haunted house can still put in some work on your psyche. A generally menacing atmosphere, a sudden shock or two, some horror icons... you know what you want, and there are enough haunted houses on SL to augment your enjoyment of the season.

I personally don't like clowns. Clowns are common at Halloween, especially spooky ones... which, IMHO, is 100% of them. My fear is totally irrational- I don't know what clowns would actually do to me in a nightmare scenario. The fear is probably 75% that death-mask they wear, and 25% capering.

It interferes with my IRL life, as I have to avoid circuses that my children wish to attend. I've never considered hiring one for a party. I won't even watch a KISS video.

I took the kids to a 4th of July parade in my little town, and a clown managed to sneak up on me. I hid behind my husband, buried my face in his back, and said "Make him go awayyyyyyyyyyyyyy." I was 30 years old.

My husband/protector looked at the clown and made a sort of shrug. The clown spoke in his natural voice, and said "Don't worry... I get that now and then."

Here's a nice haunted house, which may go year round. They have a lot of stuff made by someone named Pondlife, who is very good. She made the skeleton band you see in the pics here, for instance.
