INTERVIEW

SANDY:First of all, where are you from?
SINATRA:I have been in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years. Just recently I have moved to England to join my incredible wife Ruthy.

SANDY:How long have you been playing music?SINATRA:Over 40 years

SANDY:What instruments do you play?SINATRA:piano, bass, drums, guitar

SANDY:How would you describe your style?SINATRA:Over the years I have enjoyed rock, soul, country, folk, jazz and standards.

SANDY:You are a composer too,how long does it take to write a song/piece of music?SINATRA:Some songs come in a dream and are written in that timeless state, others I have been "finishing" for 40 years.

SANDY:How prolific are you?
SINATRA:Every thought is a song in progress, I am constantly turning phrases in my head. As Ruthy would say, "he's a bit of a nutter, really"
In the practical sense I have written hundreds of songs. Many of these being jingles for a variety of media concerns.

SANDY:What do you spend the most time on; music or lyrics?
SINATRA:Melody flows freely, never a labor. Lyrics come with a bit of effort as I am usually interested in telling the story with as few words as possible. Consider the brief, perfect lyric of "Fly Me To The Moon" ... this is what I admire most and strive to write like.

SANDY:Which acts have most inspired you?
SINATRA:Stevie Wonder inspired me as a child, Elton John as a teen. Earth Wind & Fire as a young adult, and now Frank Sinatra.

SANDY:Where do you get ideas for songs/pieces of music?
SINATRA:Life baby!

SANDY:Except for other musicians what else inspires you?SINATRA:Nature, beautiful art and architecture, and most recently and vividly my beautiful wife Ruthy.

SANDY:What has influenced you to get your to where you are today musically?
SINATRA:Early in life, the desire to be famous and rich... today, however, I want to be rich and famous.

SANDY:Which song would you most like to have written?SINATRA:For it's hauntingly fragile beautiful melody, the soundtrack to "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso" by the great Ennio Morricone.

SANDY:Let's start spending some words about SL : How did you discover it?SINATRA:Time Magazine in an article called "Best Inventions 2002"

SANDY:what brought you inworld?
SINATRA:I read that Time Magazine article and went to the Linden Lab website for more information.
It was there that I joined the beta program.

SANDY:Did you ever think to use your real name for what you usually do in Second Life?SINATRA:I would have if that were an option when I first joined. I have always used Second Life to expand my first life rather than add a second.

SANDY:What you like to do here in Second Life when you are not playing?
SINATRA:I love to tour the sims. I am always excited to see what the power of the creative mind, equipped with the powerful and expansive tool set that is Second Life, can do.

SANDY:Do you like shopping or going to music concerts or art exhibits?SINATRA:Yes, all of the above.

SANDY:Do you think SL can be a valid showcase for your RL works?
SINATRA:It has always been.
SANDY:In SL you have opened a live music venue:can you explain to us why did you start this virtual adventure and what are your aims, business or just fun?
From the beginning, the multi dimensional experience, global reach and social nature of SL has provided me with tools to create and share ideas in a most magical and powerful way.

SANDY:Do you use other kind of digital promotions?
SINATRA:Yes.

SANDY:Where do you see yourself a year from now:will Second Life still exist?
SINATRA:If Second Life is here, I will be here. I am working with Kleio Dagostino (best vocalist in SL) and Ian Bleac (Godfather of Swing) on a number of musical projects including a radio station and concert venue. If you love vintage music and lifestyle, stay tuned. LONG LIVE PHILIP ROSEDALE, LONG LIVE SECOND LIFE!
