Interview with Jordio
SANDY: First of all some words about you: where are you from?JORDIO:As I say at the beggining of my shows… "I'm Jordio Carnell, and I'm a piano player from Catalonia"
SANDY: How long have you been playing music?JORDIO:I was 5 years old when I started to learn the language of music. I have studied music since I was 18 and SL has encouraged me to start it again!
SANDY: What instruments do you play?JORDIO:I'm an acceptable piano player, a mediocre drum player, a bad bass player and the worst guitar player ever.
SANDY: How would you describe your style?JORDIO:I play jazzy versions of pop tunes, and pop versions of jazz standards.Actually I'm not a composer. I usually don't like all the things I write, when i listen to it later.
SANDY: What do you spend the most time on; music or lyrics?JORDIO:On music, of course. I'm a bad lyricist.
SANDY: Which acts have most inspired you?JORDIO:The Rolling Stones. I've grown up listening to Keith Richards… I've always wanted to translate to the keys his particular way of playing the rhythm guitar.
SANDY: Where do you get ideas for songs/pieces of music?JORDIO:Well… I get ideas when I arrange songs. I break them into little pieces and then I try to sort them again.
I love to play songs in a different mood/way than you're used to listening to them.
SANDY: Except for other musicians what else inspires you?JORDIO:The pursuit to make people happy with the music I play.
SANDY: What has influenced you to get your to where you are today musically?JORDIO:A lot of awesome musicians… from Leonard Cohen to Miles Davis; from Thelonious Monk to David Bowie; the Beatles and of course, the Stones,…
SANDY: Which song would you most like to have written?JORDIO:"Heroes", by David Bowie
SANDY: Let's talk about SL, how did you discover it?
JORDIO:I saw a report on TV and I became suddendly very curious about this virtual worls.Definitely curiosity brought me inworld!
SANDY: Did you ever think to use your real name for what you usually do in Second Life?JORDIO:Never!
SANDY: What you like to do here in Second Life when you are not playing?Do you like shopping or going to music concerts or art exhibits?JORDIO:I often go to gigs and listen to other musicians.I'm not really interested in shopping...Not my favorite thing at all!
SANDY: Do you think SL can be a valid showcase for your RL works?JORDIO:No… but I very much enjoy sharing my music and it's a great surprise to me to meet people all over the world that I can move with my music.
SANDY: Do you use other kind of digital promotions?JORDIO:Myspace and facebook
SANDY: Where do you see yourself a year from now:will Second Life still exist?JORDIO:I don't care… The question is… will Jordio exist?
